Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Plainview #497 - Plainview, MN Newsletter Editor: Karen Reinschmidt –kreinsch85@gmail.com Quarterly Newsletter In This Issue Messages from our Regent and Court Chaplain State CDA Convention Support our Seminarians (SOS) Spiritual Adoption Programs, Projects & Charities Important dates & reminders CDA Mission Statement Catholic Daughters of the Americas strives to embrace the principle of faith working through love, in the promotion of justice, equality, and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all. January – February – March 2019 Message from our Regent As Catholic Daughters, we are invited to echo Mary’s fiat and perform with love the Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy in our families, parish and community that our Lord calls us to do. Mary’s words “May it be done” or “Be it done” are often referred to as her fiat. Mary’s fiat is her submission to God’s will. When we echo her words, we too submit to God’s will in our lives. We model our faith after Mary’s faith opening ourselves up to the will of God. Why is Mary such a great model for faith? It all goes back to her fiat. With full trust in God, she set her will aside and let his be done. Think about the choices she had. She could have said “Let it be done later,” and she could have downright refused—but she didn’t. As a result, God brought redemption into the world through Mary. God wants to bring life, peace, and goodness into this world through us, too. Are we willing to let it be done? Let us have the courage to echo the words of Mary and live the life God calls us to live. Regent Sharon Schouweiler CDA Motto – Unity & Charity The purpose of the organization is to participate in the religious, charitable, and educational Apostolates of the Church. Catholic Daughters of the Americas engages in creative and spiritual programs which provide its members with the opportunity to develop their God-given talents in a meaningful way to positively influence the welfare of the church and all peoples throughout the world. Message from our Chaplain Happy New Year! It is common this time of year to make resolutions to change our ways of eating, to stop smoking, to exercise, just to name a few. It is also a good time to look at or create your “Plan of Life.” What are your Deacon John DeStazio priorities? How does God fit into your daily life? Putting God first and recognizing him daily can make the biggest change in your life. Remember: God has a plan for your life. The enemy has a plan for your life. Be wise enough to know which one to battle and which one to embrace. Blessings and prayers for the new year! Deacon John DeStazio, OFS
