CFNC’s Financial Basics for High School and Beyond Blended Learning with BF05 Personal Finance

Introducing Financial Basics The latest generation of CFNC.org’s online financial education platform. 15 mini-courses that map to BF05 topics and can be assigned in any order. Integrated classroom management tools handle grading and reporting, including both student-specific and aggregate metrics. Now a CTE recognized credential.

Student Benefits Students completing all topics receive: – CTE Credential. – CFNC.org Financial Basics Certification Badge. – Entry in CFNC’s annual scholarship drawing. Courses can be taken independently or as part of a teacher-led activity. Compatible with any device, including phones, tablets, and PCs.

Teacher Benefits Free for any teacher or school in NC. BF05 Personal Finance curriculum map. Classroom management features make it easy to view and export student participation for each course. Getting Started: Students Create an account at: https://basics.financialliteracy101.org. Option 1: Enter Classroom Code. – Code associates student and teacher. Option 2: Select school from list of all NC high schools. Complete short registration form with name, graduation year, PowerSchoolID, email, and phone (optional).

Completing Courses Once registered, all courses are listed on the home page. Courses can be taken in any order. Each course includes: – – – – Grade. Completion certificate. Date of completion. Participation score.

CFNC.org Certification Badge Students must complete all courses with a final grade of 100% (includes the ability to re-take missed quiz questions). Badge is linked to a permanent CFNC.org page that verifies the accomplishment. Badge can be used for job applications, LinkedIn profile, and for college applications.

Additional Tools and Resources 10 videos that cover the financial aid process. Monthly budget calculator, course notebook, financial goals journal. Students can change Classroom association and even “upgrade” to the college version after graduation in the My Account area.

CFNC Financial Literacy Scholarships Two 500 scholarships are awarded annually for Financial Basics participants. Students must score 80% or higher on quizzes (including retaking missed quiz questions). If the student is not a senior, the award will be held by CFNC and released upon college enrollment.

Getting Started: Teachers Option 1: Use Classrooms – Click the Teacher Registration link from https://basics.financialliteracy101.org. – Complete the form, including school affiliation. Option 2: Use the Course Verification Tool – No registration required. – Each course includes a completion certificate and code that can be provided by the student. – Verify the student name, date completed and grade be entering the code at .

Introducing Classrooms Easy-to-use control panel for viewing student activity. Financial Basics Classrooms can be mapped to real classes you teach for class-specific reports and discussions. Students can be “archived” at the end of the year – no need to create new classrooms at the start of each new year. Your home page includes direct links to Classrooms, recent ac:vity metrics, and a student search tool.

Creating a Classroom Your first Classroom is created automatically at registration. Click the “Add a Classroom” button and fill out the form. Give the Classroom Code to students to use at registration or to associate their account with you (if they have already registered). New codes always include the first six digits of your original code plus a hyphenated suffix. For example, 999999-1, 999999-2, etc.

Student Instructions Getting students started is easy.
