Martinsville Speedway 340 Speedway Rd. Ridgeway, VA (877) RACE-TIX www.martinsvillespeedway.com Celebrating over 70 years of racing, the Martinsville Speedway is a classic in motorsports. It is the only original NASCAR-sanctioned track still running. At slightly more than half a mile, Martinsville Speedway is the shortest track on the NASCAR Cup Series Race Circuit, but it’s one of the biggest when it comes to action. It has 800-foot straightaways and turns banked at only 12 degrees. The demanding layout consistently produces some of the wildest fender rubbing, push-and-shove racing on the tour. nowe most ou kay is th Did y CAR Speedw ille NAS n Martinsv le track on the top by o accessib Race Circuit? The Smith River has 11 public canoe ramps available for use by paddlers and fishermen. If you enjoy white water, paddle the river during peak generation from Philpott Dam, or if a relaxing flat water paddle is more your speed, put your boat in farther downstream. Wild brown trout are abundant along the Smith River, and above Martinsville fishermen can catch seasonally stocked rainbows. You can also put a line in farther downstream for smallmouths, rock bass, and redbreasts. Travel time is determined by water level and flow conditions; hydro-electric generation will increase water flows and decrease travel times. A general rule of thumb for planning canoe or kayak trips on gentle moving water is to allow 25-30 minutes per river mile. Call (276) 629-2432 for a weekly water generation schedule from Philpott Dam. 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 14 www.visitmartinsville.com
