In an ever increasing environment in terms of complexity andvolatility, a clear strategy for the treasury department isrequired in order to operate and respond timely to marketchanges, etc. The strategy must be founded at board level/managementlevel in order to ensure an efficient operation model thatincludes responsibilities, resources and remuneration. Move from internal bank to focus on treasurer’s ability to actas a business partner to the management in order to createvalue to the shareholders.We assist in the following areas:Case study – energy company Assess current maturity level of the treasury department byapplying our framework: Deloitte Treasury Cube. Evaluation and advise on developing and implementing thetreasury strategy based on our expertise and our experiencefrom other similar companies.Review of current strategy and policies for the treasurydepartment with recommendations on how to link risk appetitewith formal policies. Assist with designing the full treasury infrastructure, includingstrategy, policies, systems and procedures (see followingpages).Development of a long-term strategic forecasting tool tosupport decisions on strategy and financing options, includingsensitivity and scenario analyses. Create a strong link to the CFO and management in general,their budgets and systems which enhance the treasurersability to act as a business partner.
