Troubleshooting TipsIf your M.2 SSD won’t fit into the M.2 socket, don’t apply extrapressure or attempt to force it into the socket. Instead, doublecheck your system to ensure that you’re inserting the drive intothe M.2 socket (this socket can look similar to others, but shouldbe clearly labeled in your owner’s manual). If your Crucial M.2 SSDstill won’t fit into the socket, contact Crucial Technical Support. If your system won’t boot once you’ve finished the installation, check all of the connections and cables inside your computer. When performing an installation, it’s easy to bump a cable andaccidentally remove it from its connector, which can disabledevices such as your hard drive. If your system still won’t rebootafter you’ve checked every connection, contact Crucial TechnicalSupport. When restarting your system after the installation, you mayreceive a message prompting you to update your system’sconfiguration settings. Refer to your owner’s manual forinformation on how to do this. If you’re still unsure, contact CrucialTechnical Support. If your M.2 drive isn’t recognized by your system’s BIOS when youboot up, shut down your computer and reseat the drive (unplug itfrom the M.2 socket, then reattach it and fasten it in place usingthe installation steps noted above). After the drive has beenreseated, turn on your computer. The BIOS should recognize thedrive. If not, contact Crucial Technical Support.4

the majority of M.2 SSD drives on the market are still AHCI based, and not NVME. An Example of an NVME based M.2 SSD drive is the Samsung SSD 950 Pro[4], shown in Figure 2. NVME drives typically use M.2 "type M" edge connectors, allowing them access to four PCIE lanes. The U.2 interface for NVME SSD drives allows traditional 2.5 inch physical form
