Themoisture in the air condenses on the coil and drips into acatch basin. The water collects in a tray and is pumpedout through a hose. In certain conditions, the machineoperates in defrost mode, warming any frostaccumulated on the evaporator coil back into water. LGR(Low Grain Refrigerant) dehumidifiers have better heatexchange and defrost abilities than regular refrigerant1Dri-Eaz Products, Inc.
dehumidifiers, and are able to continue removingmoisture in colder and/or drier environments.Managing temperature riseControlling temperature in the drying environment iscritical. The most accurate way to monitor temperature iswith a thermo-hygrometer; however, you can use anindoor/outdoor thermometer to gauge temperature. Forimproved accuracy, take temperature readings in thecenter of the room, away from the airflow of thedehumidifier.POSITIONING A DEHUMIDIFIERFor best results, operate your dehumidifiers in anenclosed area, as this creates a drying chamber. Closeall doors and windows that open to the outside tomaximize the unit’s water removal efficiency. Also, keeptraffic though the drying chamber to a minimum. Placeyour Evolution dehumidifier against a wall, away fromobstructions, and keep it away from anything that couldblock airflow into and out of the unit.Dri-Eaz dehumidifiers warm the air as they removemoisture. Optimal drying temperatures range from 68–85 F (20–29 C). This may require the use of thebuilding’s HVAC (heating or air conditioning) system. Ifheating and cooling is not available at the site, call DriEaz at 800-932-3030, and a Technical Specialist willhelp you find an appropriate solution.IMPORTANT: Before moving the unit, make sure there’sno water in the pump. OPERATING YOUR DEHUMIDIFIERSet unit uprightAlways store, transport, and operate the dehumidifier inan upright position. Placing the unit in a horizontalposition may cause damage to internal components.Set up drain hoseThe Evolution LGR pump connects to a plastic drainagehose. The hose can be stored on the hose wrap, locatedon the back of the unit (see Fig. A). You can release thehose by rotating the top reel of the hose wrap to eitherside; pull the tab outward until you’re able to rotate it(see Fig. C). Rotate the tab to the right or left until it ispointing straight down. This feature makes it easy totake off the entire hose quickly. Place the unattachedhose end in a sink, drain, bucket – even outside;anywhere that water can drain out safely.How to use the control panelThe Touchpad on DrizAir dehumidifiers has one displayand four keys. The normal display messages areNOTE: Uncoil and straighten the entire drain hose.Do not leave any of part of the hose coiled on theunit and do not place the end of the hose higherthan 20 ft. (6 m) above the top of the unit. Alsocheck for kinks, or obstructions that would restrictthe flow of water. Failure to do so may cause a waterbackup in the pump resulting in leakage.DEHUMIDIFIER OFFDEHUMIDIFIER ONTOTAL HRSJOB HRSCMPRSR DELAYPUMP PURGINGDEFROST ONGET SERVICE ERXXWhen the unit is first connected to AC power, thetouchpad display will cycle continuously through threemessages: DEHUMIDIFER OFF, TOTAL HOURS, andJOB HOURS.Plug in electrical cordThe electrical cord is wrapped around the top of the unit.The Evolution will operate on any standard 115-volt (15amp) grounded outlet.ON-OFF. Press the ON-OFF key to turn the unit onor off. When turning the machine on, usually the displayreads CMPRSR DELAY and performs a numericalcountdown from a maximum of 60 seconds to 0. Thecompressor delay gives the machine time to warm up(when needed). If you don’t see a compressor delaycountdown, the machine is ready to go. Once the unitcompletes the CMPRSR DELAY, the display readsDEHUMIDIFIER ON, and continues to cycle betweenTOTAL HOURS, JOB HOURS and DEHUMIDIFIER ON.Press the ON-OFF key again to turn the unit off. Thedisplay will read DEHUMIDIFIER OFF.IIf the unit experiences a loss of power, either from apower interruption or thermal overload, the unit will startautomatically after a 60 second compressor delay.Turn the unit onPress the “on” button on the touchpad.FIG. How to change the language display1. Unplug the unit and then plug it back in. This may reset the electronics.CAUTION: While in the change-language mode,pressing other keys can change the programming of themachine. Do NOT press other keys you’re not instructedto press.2. If the error message reappears, try the solution (if oneis listed) in the “Error Messages,” p. 6.3. If the error message still appears, please contact theDri-Eaz Service Department at 800-932-3030.Use the DISPLAY key to change the display language.Follow these steps:At the end of the jobAs with all dehumidifiers, once the drying job iscompleted, it is important to make sure the unit iscompletely purged of water before moving it. To ensurethat all water has drained into the pump, turn theunit off, allow it to rest for 10 minutes, then press thePURGE button. (The unit must be plugged in for thepurge to operate.) Once the purge cycle is complete,unplug the unit and remove it promptly from the job.1. Unplug the unit.2. While holding down the DISPLAY key, plug the unit in.The display reads ENGLISH.3. To change to FRANCAIS, DEUTSCH, or ESPANOL,press the DISPLAY key or the CLEAR key.4. When the desired language is shown in the display,unplug the unit, and the language is set.MAINTENANCECLEAR. Press the CLEAR key to reset the JOBHOURSWARNING! ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD. Unplugthe unit before performing any maintenance. Neveruse a water hose or pressure washer to clean coils,as water entering the electrical compartment couldcause a shock hazard.1. As the display cycles between DEHUMIDIFIER ON,JOB HOURS, and TOTAL HOURS, press the DISPLAYkey when JOB HOURS appears on the screen. That willmake the display read JOB HOURS steadily.2. Then press the CLEAR key to re-set the numerals to00000.Before each useInspect the electrical cord for damage. Look forfraying, cuts, etc. Do not use the unit if you find anydamage. Visit www.drieaz.com for the nearest ServiceCenter or call 800-932-3030.3. Press DISPLAY again to re-start the display cycle.NOTE: the TOTAL HOURS reading cannot be re-set.Inspect and vacuum filter as needed. Keep a cleanfilter in the unit at all times to protect internalcomponents from dust and other particulate build-up.The Evolution is equipped with a 3M High Air-Flowfilter. The HAF filter may be vacuumed clean and reusedup to three times. Do not rinse or wash the HAF filter,as it will reduce the effectiveness of the electrostaticmaterial.PURGE. Press the PURGE key to empty waterfrom the pump reservoir. During normal operation, thepump purges automatically every six minutes, orwhenever the reservoir is full. The display will readPUMP PURGING with a numeral countdown. To purgethe pump manually:1. Turn the power off using the OFF key, and let the unitsit plugged in for about 10 minutes. This allows water todrip from the coils.FIG. E: HOUSING ASSEMBLY2. Press PURGE to remove residual water.Other DisplaysDefrost cycleDuring normal operation, frost may form on the coils.When this occurs, a temperature sensor detects the frostand initiates a defrost cycle. The display will readDEFROST ON. Dehumidification stops during thedefrost cycle. When the unit completes the cycle, thedisplay returns to DEHUMIDIFIER ON, and normaldehumidification resumes.Error messagesIf the onboard diagnostics discover a problem, the unitwill display “GET SERVICE,” followed by “ER” and anumeral from 01 to 09. Replace only with a new 3M HAF Filter (Dri-Eaz part no.F372). For parts and service call your local distributor orcontact the Dri-Eaz Service Department at800-932-3030.FIG. F: PUMP ACCESS PANELCAUTION: Dust can cause the unit to overheat andshut down. Do not operate when excessive dust orairborne particles are present, such as duringsanding or spray-painting. Inspect and clean air filterelements and coils frequently.IMPORTANT: Replace the HAF filter whenever 1)it has been vacuumed clean 3 times or 2) it hasbeen used on a mold remediation job orotherwise exposed to potentially dangerouscontaminants.To access thepump, removethe four bolts(circled) on thelower panel.MonthlyCheck coils. Dirty coils can cause the unit to overheat.Clean when visibly dirty. See Fig. E.1. Unplug unitAnnually2. Remove housing, locate coils and allow coils to dry ifwet.Have the pump system inspected by the Dri-Eaz ServiceDepartment (800-932-3030) or by a qualified servicecenter.3. Vacuum coils surfaces until clean, being careful not tolet the nozzle touch the fins, as that may cause damageby bending them.To access the Evolution LGR pump, remove the fourbolts located at the bottom of the unit (Fig. F). Use a ⅜in. nut driver or socket.Check catch basin tray, and clean when dirt anddebris are present.1. Wipe clean with a rag.TRANSPORT AND STORAGECheck drain hose.NOTICE: Handle the unit carefully. Do not drop, throw,or place the unit where it could fall. Rough treatment candamage this equipment and may create a hazardouscondition or void warranty.1. Look for obstructions. Disconnect and clear any debrispresent.2. Reattach gravity drain hose.IMPORTANT: Be sure to purge the water from the pumpreservoir before moving the unit. See the PURGEfunction under “How to use the control panel” on page 4.Note that the unit must be plugged in for the Purgefunction to operate.Inspect filter cover1. Remove the filter cover (this can be done withoutremoving the housing).2. Vacuum off any visible dirt, or wash with mild soapand water.1. Do not expose the control panel to moisture, snow orrain when transporting in uncovered vehicles.2. Store and transport securely to avoid any damagingimpact to internal parts.3. ERROR MESSAGESThe table below shows error message that the system may detect. If the display shows an “ER” message, first unplug theunit and then plug it back in. This may re-set the electronics, and if so, no further action is required. CÓMO USAR SU DESHUMIDIFICADORColoque la unidad en posición verticalSiempre almacenar , transportar y operar eldeshumidificador en posición vertical . La colocación dela unidad en una posición horizontal puede causardaños a los componentes internos .Coloque la manguera de drenajeLa bomba del Evolution LGR se conecta a unamanguera de drenaje plástica, que se encuentraenrollada en la parte de atrás de la unidad (vea la Fig.A). Para sacar la manguera, gire la bobina superior de lacavidad para guardar la manguera hacia cualquiera delos lados; tire la lengüeta hacia afuera hasta que puedagirarla (vea la Fig. C).
