AIRCRAFT LOGBOOKINSTRUCTIONS FOR USE(1)This is an appropriate logbook as defined in Civil Aviation Rule part 1,and forms part of the MAINTENANCE LOGBOOK for the aircraft.(2) Reference should be made to AC43-1 latest revision for guidance inthe proper use of maintenance logbooks.(3) This logbook must not be carried in this aircraft.(4) Entries must be made and certified in accordance with the provisionsof the Civil Aviation Rules for the time being in force.(5) Entries must be legible and made in blue or black ink or ball point pen,or material of equivalent permanent nature.(6) Pages must not be torn out.(7) Entries must not be erased or obliterated. The use of correction fluidis prohibited.(8) Entries made in error must be identified as such and ruled through witha single line. The correcting person must be appropriately licensed andrated for the maintenance for which the entry is being corrected; and thecorrecting entry must be dated, signed (print name) and accompaniedby the correcting person’s licence or authorisation number.(9) Logbooks must be maintained in such a manner that they provide anaccurate chronological history of the aircraft to which it relates.(10) All records required to be entered in a logbook must be madewithout delay.(11) When a loose leaf entry is attached in a logbook, it must be identifiedby a certified written entry stating –a. A loose leaf logbook entry is attachedb. The type of maintenance performedc. The name of the organisation performing the maintenanced. The job numbere. The date(12) Section 1–SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE CONTROL RECORD.This section must list the completion of each scheduled inspectionrequired by the maintenance programme in force at the time.(13) Section 2 – SERVICE RECORD. Time in service must be accuratelytransferred from the technical log. Time in service may be entered asdaily totals or as individual entries for each flight. Except as otherwiseapproved by the Director, block entries of time in service for more thanone day are not permitted.(14) Section 3–MAINTENANCE RECORD. The MAINTENANCE REQUIREDcolumn must contain details of all component unservice abilities orrequired inspections. Entries in the DETAILS OF MAINTENANCEPERFORMED column of Section 3 must contain precise details of allmaintenance activities carried out to release the aircraft to service.(15) The serial numbers of all major components removed or installed,together with their authorised release certificate, release note, or otheracceptable documentation, must be recorded.(16) Reasons for, and details of, all unscheduled maintenance includingdetails of any new airworthiness directives carried out, must berecorded in this section.(17) The location and, if applicable, the facility where the maintenance wasperformed must be recorded.(18) When repairs to an aircraft have been required as a result of an accidentthe entry of repairs made must include descriptive details of the circumstances of the accident, and descriptive details of the resultant damage.(19) Airworthiness directives, modifications, service bulletins and similarmanufacturers’ information and engine and propeller changes must beentered in the AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVES, MODIFICATIONAND ENGINE AND PROPELLER INSTALLATIONS book, CAA1464.Notes: All sections are mandatory.The use of alternative logbooks, or sections of this logbook, require prioracceptance by the Director.
