INTRODUCTIONThank you for purchasing the RMBS, this is a 19inch rack-mounted unit specifically designed to allow isolation and removal UPS equipment, without causing interruption to the supply of power to connectedloads.Please read this manual thoroughly and follow the instructions carefully. Terminate the cables in theterminals marked Mains on the cover plateConnection of the Input to the UPSFeed the UPS Input cable through the gland on the rear cover and secure. Terminate the cables in theterminals marked UPS In on the cover plateConnection of the Output from the UPSFeed the UPS Output cable through the gland on the rear cover and secure. Terminate the cables in theterminals marked UPS Out on the cover plateConnection of the Load EquipmentFeed the Load cable through the gland on the rear cover and secure. O P E R AT I O NInitial Switch OnEnsure all connections are correctEnsure the rotary switch in the 'NORMAL' positionEnsure the rotary switch cover plate is attached firmly in placeSwitch on the AC supply to the RMBSThe UPS should now begin its start-up procedureFollow the instructions detailed in the UPS user manual to confirm UPS is operating correctlyTransfer From UPS to Bypass Operation For Maintenance and TestingWARNINGENSURE THE UPS IS IN NORMAL OPERATION AND NOT IN BATTERY MODEREFER TO UPS USER MANUALRemove the rotary switch cover plate using the two thumb screwsIf the interlock connections have been installed the UPS should automatically transfer to internal UPS bypass. If however they have not been installed, then follow the UPS instructions to transfer the UPS to internal bypass operation.Check the UPS display to ensure the unit is in internal bypass operationRotate the switch to the 'UPS Bypass' position, the load is now powered by the RMBSThe UPS still has mains supply voltage present for testing purposes32-63A RACK-MOUNT ROTARY BYPASS SWITCHRBQS00062REV1

O P E R AT I O NTransfer From UPS to Bypass Operation For Maintenance with Complete Isolation of theUPSRemove the rotary switch cover plate using the two thumb screwsIf the interlock connections have been installed the UPS should automatically transfer to internal UPS bypass. If however they have not been installed then follow the UPS instructions to transfer the UPS to internal bypass operation.Check the UPS display to ensure the unit is in internal bypass operationRotate the switch to the 'UPS Bypass' position, the load is now powered by the RMBSTo isolate the UPS rotate the switch to the 'Bypass' position, the UPS input/output connections are nowisolatedTransfer From Bypass to UPS OperationWARNINGLOAD IS ONLY FULLY PROTECTED WHEN THE ROTARY SWITCH IS IN THE UPSPOSITION AND THE UPS IN IN NORMAL ONLINE OPERATIONRemove the rotary switch cover plate using the two thumb screwsRotate the switch from ‘Bypass’ position to ‘Bypass UPS’ positionThe UPS Should now begin start-up procedure (refer to UPS user manual for switch on instructions)ENSURE the UPS is in internal bypass operationRotate the switch to the 'UPS’ positionTransfer the UPS to normal online operation (refer to UPS user manual)The load is now supplied by the UPS32-63A RACK-MOUNT ROTARY BYPASS SWITCHRBQS00062REV1
