Select the Cloak objectin the Object Manager, hold down [Alt] and, from the Moccamenu, add a Cloth NURBS object. The cloak is now a child ofthe NURBS object.26Select the Cloth NURBS object and set the thicknessto 1.5. This goes some way towards smoothing themesh and will add thickness, but the cloak could stillbenefit from more smoothing, so add a HyperNURBS object,too. Now, the thickened edge is rounded, along with the restof the cloak.27With its sophisticated dynamicsand collision detection, you canuse Clothilde in the simulation of anumber of other real-world objects.For example, a ‘cloth’ car crashinginto a ‘collider’ wall, fronds of kelpmoving in the currents of the sea, orthe wings of a butterfly flapping. The cloak’sdefault position is now set, and the Cloth engine canbe switched off for the sake of our still render scene. Dropthe cloak hierarchy into the Main Figures hierarchy and Copyand Paste into the scene file; position as required.28Just for fun, let’s go back a couple of steps in ourprevious cloak document, reactivate the clothengine, and see the effect of adding wind forces tothe cloak. In the Forces tab, make the Wind Direction X 1m,and the Z -1m. Make the wind strength 5. Ensure thatthe Hyper and Cloth NURBS are deactivated and click onCalculate Cache.29In the main scene file, arrange your newly createdcloth elements to your individual requirements.We decided to add a gold, silky edge to our cloakwith a Texture Selection tag (both textures are in the scenefile).
