ENLISTED SERVICE UNIFORMSThe service "A" uniform includes the service coat. When the service "A" uniform is prescribed asthe uniform of the day, it is appropriate to remove the coat in office buildings within the confinesof a military activity or establishment. Females may wear either the long or short-sleeve khakishirt, and green neck tab with this uniform. The service "A" uniform is authorized for leave andliberty.The service "B" uniform is the same as the service "A" uniform except that the service coat is notworn. The long-sleeve khaki shirt is worn with the appropriate necktie and necktie clasp/necktab.This uniform may be worn as the uniform of the day and for leave and liberty, unless otherwiseprescribed by the commander, and may be prescribed for formations at parades or ceremonieson and off the military activity. This uniform will not be worn for formal or semi-formal socialevents.The short-sleeve khaki shirt with appropriate service trousers or skirt/slacks is designated as theservice "C" uniform. During the winter season, commanders may, at their discretion when theweather requires, authorize the service "C" uniform. This uniform may be worn as a uniform ofthe day and for leave or liberty, unless otherwise prescribed by the commander, and may beprescribed for formations at parades or ceremonies on and off the military activity. ENLISTED DRESS UNIFORMSThe most recognizable uniform of the Marine Corps is the Dress Blue uniform andoften seen in recruiting advertisements. It's equivalent in composition and to thecivilian black tie.The Marine Corps Dress Blue Coat is worn during formal events or ceremonials. TheDress Blue uniform is the only U.S. military uniform that incorporates all three colorsof the U.S. Flag. OFFICERS OR ENLISTED MALE &FEMALE ALL WEATHER COAT Determining Length: a point midwaybetween the knee and mid-calf. Thecoat must be long enough to reachthe bottom of the kneecap 1 inchbelow for females. It must not extendbelow the mid-calf. Wear: The coat's top button may beworn buttoned or may be left openwith the collar neatly folded back toform lapels. The AWC may be worn with service,dress, and utility uniforms. PT & UTILITY UNIFORMSCommanders may prescribe the utility uniform as the uniform of the day, in accordancewith the below guidance. The uniform is authorized for parades, reviews or otherceremonies, and informal social functions. The utility coat may be removed only forphysical training and work details. When the Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform is wornduring the summer season the woodland Marine Pattern (MARPAT) with the sleevesrolled up will be worn. When the MCCUU is worn during the winter season the woodlandMARPAT will be worn with the sleeves down.The MCCUU is a working uniform and not appropriate for wear in a civilian environment.Wear of the MCCUU is authorized while commuting to and from work via privately ownedvehicles.
