A MESSAGE FROM EVAN MCKIEIf it had not been for Nadia's eye for talent and Solomon's helping hand,I definitely would not have been given such great opportunities after my timeat the Academy. As a youngster, I was so inspired by their galas and then Idiscovered the beauty of training with Nadia. I used to come to the Academyand take secret classes to improve my technique and learn more about whatmy possibilities could be as a ballet dancer! I never thought then that I wouldone day meet these two wonderful people again by dancing in the ''Stars ofthe 21st Century Galas'' all over the world! I am grateful for the strong trainingand intelligent guidance I received at the Academy and how many doors itopened for me. Solomon and Nadia are a part of the history of Ballet and stillremain current with what is going on all over the world! All my love to you both. A couple years later I won the Grand Prix at the Star ofthe 21st Century competition. Thanks to Nadia and Solomon I had the wonderfuland unique privilege of dancing in the Stars of the 21st Century galas in PanamaCity, Panama and Paris, France. I am forever grateful to them and to the Academyfor their time, effort and constant belief in me. A MESSAGE FROM URSULA SZKOLAKI have the fondest memories of my many years of studies under NadiaVeselova-Tencer. I can remember even at a young age the effect thatNadia had not only on me, but all her students. The attention, disciplineand caring she gave me and so many others is something that I will neverforget. Her guidance, for me, also definitely planted the seed for the loveof art, dance and especially the classics of Russian Ballet – and that issomething that I am greatly thankful for. Nadia not only was an extraordinary teacher of technique and artistry, she also passed on to me the prideand honor of tradition that one should feel for practicing this craft. So, on behalf of me and so many of your students - thank you Nadia foreverything you have given us to make us the dancers and people thatwe are today. You are much loved!Ursula SzkolakPincipal dancer with Canadian Pacific BalletA MESSAGE FROM SAHRA MAIRAWay back in 1991 my Dad looked though the yellow pages in search of agood ballet studio for his daughter. He found one; Academy of Ballet andJazz. What he didn’t realize is that he found Nadia Veselova-Tencer. Agreat woman and a great ballet teacher of Vaganova training.I have known Nadia for 27 years! It is thanks to her knowledge and carefulattention that at a young age I grew to love ballet and dance. She instilledin me discipline, rigor, and fluidity in training. Technique was always workedon, but besides pirouettes and jumps she asked us to express somethingwhen we dance. I remember this one day in class she said: “Use yourhands in a way to feel, like a blind person does, to feel.” She always wouldremind us that feeling must be conveyed through your arms and hands.Coordination of the upper body was so important to her and she teaches itso well.Nadia planted the seeds of love, the seed of dance, within me, that whichshe nurtured through many years. I am grateful and thankful to her that Iam living my childhood dream of dancing professionally!Much love to you Nadia!Sahra MairaSoloist with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens20

Le CorsaireLe Corsaire is a ballet typically presented in three acts, with a libretto originally created byJules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges loosely based on the poem The Corsair by Lord Byron.Originally choreographed by Joseph Mazilier to the music of Adolphe Adam, it was first presentedby the ballet of the Théâtre Impérial de l Opéra in Paris on 23 January 1856. All modern productions of Le Corsaire are derived from the revivals staged by the Ballet Master Marius Petipa forthe Imperial Ballet of St. Petersburg throughout the mid to late 19th century. The ballet has manycelebrated passages, which are often extracted from the full-length work and performedindependently: the scene being performed is Le Jardin Animé,Performed by Ballet III & Pointe II-IIIVARIATIONS:1st VariationTiffany Efimov2nd VariationCarmen McKay3rd VariationRacquel Sherlock, Rachel Ng, Assantewah SimonAinsley Grzywinski, Angela Ouyang4th VariationSoo Min Oh5th VariationRachel Ng6th VariationCharis LeungAdagio:Irene Yang & Evgeni Dokoukine7th VariationAnastasia Miller8th VariationIrene YangCODA25
