Welcome to “Paddle 2015”Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival are delighted to once again be hosting the largest Surf LifeSaving competition outside of the West Country. “Paddle” as it is affectionately known began in1996 as a social event & to raise money for charity. Testament to its continued popularity withvisitors from all over the world, the event saw visitor numbers in 2013 of around 55,000.With over 6000 prize money and the biggest party for all – you’re gonna love it!Prize MoneyUp to 6000 is available for SLSGB clubs that compete at Paddle thanks to sponsor JEEP. 1000 of this purse will be awarded to the club with the largest number of accumulated points overall classes and categories.In addition 500 has been set aside for clubs as a Wildcard Raffle prize. A club will automatically beentered for this if they bring along 30 or more lifesavers to compete. The required 30 individualentrants can be across any category or class and need only enter one race in order to qualify theirclub for this offer.Where to stayThere will also be bookable camping available on a first come first served basis especially for SLSGBcompetitors and their families. Boat crews and lifeguards working the event will be hosted byBrighton SLSC. What else is there to do?Lots!The Paddle Village supporting the event is over 90,000m² consisting of Watersports retail &exhibition stands, surf, beach art, food and drink outlets. There is a main music stage, Ukulele Stageand kids entertainment stage as well as many more attractions like the skate ramps. It’s very easy tospend two days lost in the Paddle Village and don’t forget the Paddle Mexican Party! (with skatepark alongside!).There are also lots of other water races open to you such as the 10mile SUP races plus a longboardpaddle race with a holiday for two as the first prize – see the website www.paddleroundthepier.comfor more info. Under 16’s can also enter the Junior SUP time-trials as many times as they wish withthe chance to win a Fanatic SUP of their own. ACCOMODATION informationOur campsite this year is at the Bodhisattva Centre right in middle of Brighton, just a 5 minute walkfrom Paddle at 3 Lansdowne Road, Brighton & Hove, BN3 1DNFacilities at siteAs per previous years we offer pretty basic facilities but ask only that you share the cost of portableWC’s and any security required. WC’s and running water will be available but no showers or washing/ drying facilities so please ensure to bring reasonably sized water containers to take to your pitch.There is a cafe within the centre which will be open on weekend mornings which offers vegetariancuisine. However a full range of shops and restaurants are on your doorstep.SecurityThe campsite will be mostly unmanned and you should be responsible for security of your items.Pre-erected TentsFor late arrivals, there will be some pre erected tents that can be booked at a cost of an extra 20per night.
