lerGlobetrotterShort trips to points of interest in theneighborhood or community, like a walkto a nearby park, a short ride by car to afirehouse, courthouse or nearby store foran activity. Girls learn from discussionand preparation.All-day visit to a point of historical ornatural interest in a nearby city or travelto a location specific to a Journeyrequirement. Girls can select locationand contribute to trip-planning, whilenever being too far from home. One or two nights away to a nearby city, museum overnight or camp. These shorttrips, usually less than 300 miles away, are just long enough to “get their toeswet” but not long enough to createhomesickness. Traveling a shortdistance as a troop set the foundation forplanning a longer trip. Two to four nights over 300 miles away.Girls are able to assist with reservingaccommodations and findingtransportation options, including pricingand scheduling. Activities while on thetrip are decided upon, including mealplanning. GSUSA Getaways are a greatintroduction to Troop/Group travel.Travel anywhere in the country, oftenlasting a week or more, is considered aTraveler trip. Planning of the trip usuallytakes 12-24 months. Try to steer clear oftrips girls might take with their familiesand consider trips that offer someeducational component. Check out themany cities, historic sites and museumsaround the country and some GSUSADestinations offer national travel as well.Traveling around the world often requiresover two years of preparation and moneyearning.
