Be familiar with functionality in the core SAP modules we cover in this class; knowintegration points among core module and master data in modulesIdentify security issues inherent in an ERP system and internal controls to guard againstthese security issuesUnderstand the process of 3rd party assurance during an ERP implementationCourse Materials Modern ERP Systems: Select, Implement and Use Today’s Advanced Business Systems,3rd Edition (not published yet - I will upload chapters to Moodle) SAP GUI (Windows or MAC version). Can be downloaded from Moodle and installed on yourlaptop/PC Harvard Business Cases (Available at Harvard Press, approx. 5 each) I will announce when theemail from Harvard Press is coming for you to purchase online– we will be reading two Printer, paper, and toner cartridge for printing out MERP chapters and SAP assignmentsSAP University Alliance Student Recognition AwardIf you are interested in obtaining the SAP University Alliance Student Recognition Award throughthe SAP University Alliance, you need to also take my 1-hour course, Advanced SAP (MBA610),which I teach in the spring semester. MBA610 is on-line and covers SAP configuration, which is theprocess of setting up SAP to work for your company (part of the implementation process). Uponreceiving the award you will want to put the following on your resume: “SAP University AllianceStudent Recognition Award – completed a program of study using SAP that included transaction processing in thecore SAP modules of FI/CO, MM, SD, WM, EAM, HCM and PP and configuration in FI/CO, MM andSD.” Per SAP UA guidelines, do not use the word “training” or the word “certified” on yourresume.GRADINGSAP Exercises and CasesYou will complete 13 graded SAP exercises and cases using the SAP UA Global Bike 2.3 curriculumThese assignments will teach you the basics of SAP core modules: MM (materials management), SD(sales and distribution), HCM (human capital management), FI (financial accounting), CO(controlling), EAM (enterprise asset management), WM (warehouse management), and PP(production planning). Deliverables will be certain screenshots (denoted within the assignments) thatyou will capture, paste into a Word doc, and upload on Moodle at the designated place. See schedulefor due dates. The SAP assignment portion of your grade should be an easy 100% if you following the instructionsand complete them on time! Below are guidelines for completing SAP cases and exercises: I will assign each of you a unique user ID for completing SAP assignments. Please only useyour unique user ID and not anyone else’s as this is the way I make sure you completed theassignment. Note: your user ID is different than the client number, which is the same for everyone; also notethat SAP cases use 000 in the screenshots – this is my number so do not use this one either.SAP is available in Nelson classrooms and computer labs, but nowhere else on campus.2

Do not wait until the last minute to do SAP assignments. Problems can occur if you don’tfollow directions, which may take a lot of time figure out. If we are not available for you lastminute, your assignment will be late and you will incur a penalty-see belowDue to issues in the past with having to excessively “handhold” certain students, thefollowing rules are now in effect:o If you upload the SAP assignment any later than the start of class when it is due, anautomatic 10 points taken off for each day lateo If either my GA or I have to “bail you out” in an exercise – meaning, go in youraccount and fix something that you have done wrong and it takes awhile (like 30min), then automatic 10 points taken offo If your questions end up being excessive on an assignment, then an automatic 10points will be taken off.SAP Moodle QuizzesYou will take 5 timed SAP quizzes (consisting of T/F and MC and matching) on Moodle during thesemester (with one drop grade). The purpose of the quizzes is to assess your understanding of SAPtransaction flows and data in each module. Quizzes will be posted up on Moodle a week before theyare due, are timed for a little over a minute per question, and you can use your notes/PPTs. Quizzesclose at start of class time when due. I will not reopen it for any reason. Students should pay carefulattention to the calendar and schedule to determine each quiz’s due date. Please note that since thequizzes are timed, you must have studied the material before you open the quiz or you will run outof time. The questions and answers will be available on Moodle after the end of the time window;thus there are no make-ups for missed on-line quizzes for any reason. The drop policy is inplace to allow for personal or computer difficulties that prevent you from submitting a quiz by thedue date. SAP QUIZZES ARE NOT GROUP EFFORTS. YOU MUST TAKE THEMALONE WITH NO HELP FROM OTHERS.ParticipationThe best way to earn an “A ” in participation is to show up for class, be prepared by answeringquestions and being engaged in class and avoid playing on your computer or phone. We take a breakfor that mid-class. Note that I call on people often I’m not picking on you, that’s just my style.Midterm and Final ExamThe midterm includes some multiple choice from MERP chapters 1-6 and a case write-up. The casewill be given out ahead of time. The final includes multiple choice from MERP chapters 7-11.Late AssignmentsAssignments/Projects are due at the beginning of class on the date assigned (see Moodle or coursecalendar for due dates of assignments). Late assignments may be penalized for each day or portionof day late.Attendance PolicyFor complete attendance and excused absence policies, please 33
