After finishing highschool, she went to University of Texas at Austin for her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. While incollege, she volunteered at many organizations. One of them, Prevent Blindness Texas, had a special placein her heart. She enjoyed the distinct feeling of fulfillment and rejoice as low-vision patients’ faces lit upwhen she assisted them to see clearly at community events. At that moment, it was crystal-clear to herwhat she would be doing for the rest of her life. As soon as she was back in Houston, she immediatelyapplied and was selected into University of Houston’s Optometry program. She completed her firstinternship at a busy LASIK surgery center in Upper Kirby where she gained experience in caring forpatients with ocular diseases, pre-op and post-op care for LASIK and Cataract patients. For her secondinternship, she was trained in comprehensive patient care at a private practice setting in Humble TX. Shewas an active participant in Beta Sigma Kappa and earned her doctorate degree in 2011 and has beenpracticing optometry ever since. When not at the clinic, Dr. Sanwari enjoys traveling, reading andspending time with her husband and two young boys.281-747-1232 info@innovisioneyecaretx.com 10605 Spring Green Blvd., Suite 400 Katy, TX 77494CROSS CREEK IMPORTANT NUMBERSSECURITYEmergency (Police, Fire & Ambulance)Fulshear Police DepartmentFort Bend County SherriffPrecinct 3 Constable’s PatrolFulshear-Simonton Fire Department30626 5th St, Fulshear, TX 6-2800IMPORTANT NUMBERSTrash Collection - WCA281-346-1796City of Fulshear (Water)281-346-1796www.fulsheartx.comGreater Houston Pool Mgmt713-771-7665www.greaterhoustonpool.comFort Bend MUD 171281-482-0216Poison Control1-800-222-1222Animal Control281-342-1512Children’s Protective Svs713-394-4000Reliant Energy713-207-7777Centerpoint Energy713-659-2111Southwest Water Co.713-405-1750Power AT&T800-288-2747Metro713-635-4000Cross Creek August 2021Memorial Herman Hospital - KatyFulshear Area Chamber of CommerceFort Bend Tax OfficeFulshear Post OfficeEmergency Service District TaxSCHOOLSRandolph Elementary SchoolCampbell Elementary SchoolAdams Jr. HighTompkins High SchoolJordan High School - Coming in 2020KISD AdministrationKISD TransportationKISD Police DepartmentLamar Consolidated ISDHuggins ElementaryRoberts Middle SchoolFulshear High UBLISHED BY: KRENEK PRINTINGwww.krenekprinting.com 281-463-8649INFORMATION ON BUSINESS ADS: ads@krenekprinting.comNON-PROFIT ARTICLE REQUESTS: news@krenekprinting.com3

WRITING ADVICEWITHOUT SUGAR COATINGIf you’d like to improve your writing by working with other talentedwriters, please join us on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at LaMadeleine’s restaurant in Katy near I-10 and Grand Parkway. We meet at6:30 PM. More information at: www.meetup.com/writers-908. There is a 1 voluntary donation. Since the restaurant donates the space, we alsoask you to buy something from them. A cup of coffee is fine.We believe that writing critiques should be honest and helpful, notsugar-coated. To do this, we’ve established a clear credo for our writingcritique meetings: I will be honest, thorough and fair in my critiques. In all cases, I will be polite and respectful. When someone else is giving a verbal critique, I won’t interrupt. I’ll waitmy turn to present my view. It is not my job to teach other writers how to deal with criticism. It is mydesire to help them improve their writing. I understand writing skill and experience levels differ. I will tailor myadvice and tone to the skill and experience of the writer whose work Iam critiquing. I will endeavor to make my critiques solution-oriented. If I have a“problem with X” (character, plot, scene, etc.), I will either propose asolution to the problem or an approach to develop a solution. When I offer a critique, it is simply my opinion. I’ve been known to bewrong. If I have a spouse, he or she can confirm this. This is a writer’s group - and I am one member of that group. I willendeavor to allow everyone the opportunity to offer their opinions. Written critiques are only useful if they can be understood. I will makemy commentary as clear as I can. At my discretion, I can provide my nameand indicate if I’m willing to elaborate outside the meeting. There is little value in pointing out each spelling and grammar error ina verbal critique. I will indicate such errors with written comments; in theverbal critique I will provide a more summarized comment on generalspelling or grammar. I will accept differences of opinion with grace. I will be concise - so that more work may be heard and critiqued. I will give praise where praise is due.LOVE FISHING?Cross Creek resident looking for others to discuss fishing opportunitiesfor kids and adults, within Cross Creek Ranch. In result, Katy ISD, like many school districts across the state,is unable to offer a standalone Katy Virtual School (KVS) High Schoolduring the 2021-22 school year. We look forward to welcoming all KatyISD students back to in-person learning on Wednesday, August 18.Katy ISD, however, continues to offer supplemental paid online courseprograms through Katy Virtual School for students interested in pursuingon-line course work outside of the regular school day. Your patience andunderstanding is greatly appreciated as we awaited further guidanceand legislation regarding the future of virtual learning in Texas.August 2021 Cross Creek

KATY ISD’S VOLUNTEER COMMUNITYCELEBRATES A YEAR OF SUCCESSIn a year full of challenges where stepping back would have been easy,Katy ISD volunteers were determined to stay connected, reimagineprograms and steadfastly support thousands of teachers, administratorsand students across the district.Volunteers in Public Schools or VIPS, are the behind-the-scenes, handson heartbeat of Katy ISD schools who are always willing to help no matterthe task. VIPS drummed in the 2020-2021 school year with the hashtag#NewBeatSameHeart, setting the bar high for community engagementin the district, without setting foot inside schools: International Nightbecame a car parade that circled campus neighborhoods, Book Fairsbecame outdoor evening events, with food trucks and family time andvolunteers became experts at sidewalk chalking, grab & go and drivethru gatherings.Katy ISD VIPS capped off the year with the same heart, vision andpassion as they drummed it in with, hosting a VIPS Family Movie Nightat Legacy Stadium on May 7th featuring The Greatest Showman anddebuting “We are VIPS.” The landmark event went beyond the walls ofthe Merrell Center to celebrate district volunteers and honor campusvolunteers of the year.Katy ISD Business & Community Partners answered the call for “outsidethe campus walls” engagement by painting staff parking spaces anddonating yard signs to honor outstanding teachers. American FurnitureWarehouse, sent their landscaping crew to mow the Tiger Prairie at KatyHigh School and Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union peppered Katy ISDcampuses with grab-and-go goodies. In November, in place of reading to kids in classrooms, valued partnerslike BP, Chick-fil-A, Sewell Mercedes-Benz and Bass Pro Shops read storieson video, allowing every Katy ISD elementary campus access to the firstever Promise to Read video library! In addition to the traditional Food for Families holiday campaign, Partnersin Education launched a summer initiative called Food for Families School’s Out to gift Katy ISD families in need with grocery gift cards oversummer break. Thanks to unwavering community support, Food forFamilies raised over 80,000 for Katy ISD families in the 2020-2021 schoolyear, the most ever raised in a single year.LAMAR CISDREGISTER ONLINE FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEARNew and returning students, don’t forget to register for the new schoolyear at www.lcisd.org/students-parents/registration.Cross Creek August 2021LSHEARFUFOOT(DONATUTORSDonatutors is a nonprofit tutoring organization that donates 100% ofour proceeds to charity.
