The old familiar historic buildingsof Main Street remain but there is something new at almost everycorner, including: road construction, traffic signals, sidewalks,pedestrian-crossing, buildings under construction, a public plaza, restaurants, parking, art installations, Brooks Coleman MiddleSchool, and Main Street shops.Perhaps most startling of all is that the Proctor Square shoppingcenter, parking lot, and out-parcel buildings (except the PawnShop) are all gone.Let’s take a quick tour:t /FX 5SBGGJD 4JHOBM BOE 1FEFTUSJBO SPTTJOH The old three-way stop andRailroad Crossing at Main Street is now signalized and loadedwith activated pedestrian crossings. It was no small task tocoordinate a traffic signal so close to the Buford Highway andHwy. 120 signal crossed by a very active rail corridor. The trafficsignal will allow safe passage to and from the Parsons AlleyComplex and Main Street.t /FX 3FTUBVSBOUT Dreamland BBQ, Piatto, O4WP, Epicurian Café arenew join the popular PURE Taqueria downtown. All will be openduring the Fall Festival. Dreamland BBQ is located at the heart ofthe Parsons Alley Complex. Epicurian Café occupies the formerPark Café location. Old Fourth Ward Pizza (O4WP) is in the formerSteverino’s location and Piatto has completely redeveloped theformer Huthmaker’s Violin shop building into a full-servicerestaurant upstairs and a bar downstairs.t /FX 3FUBJM 4IPQT Uni’k Hand Creations along with Eyes Have NotSeen join Peace Love and Decorating, American Threads, 2 SmithGallery, and Eye Candy Art and Farmhouse Home Décor & Giftswith unique gifts, jewelry, art and clothing options.t 4XFFUT The Chocolaterie features chocolates and hand-dipped icecream.
