As of 8 JAN 10Cdt Cmd Cir 145-05SECTION I – WARRIOR FORGE TRAININGparts of the country undergo a common, high-quality trainingexperience.1. WARRIOR FORGE CONCEPT.f. WF is intentionally stressful and is designed to buildindividual confidence through the accomplishment of toughand demanding training. The days are long with little time off.Squad and platoon level competitions develop esprit de corpsand emphasize the necessity for teamwork.a. GENERAL. The 2010 Leader Development andAssessment Course – WARRIOR FORGE (LDAC/WF) islocated at Fort Lewis, Washington. WF is comprised of seventraining cycles, each cycle consisting of two regiments for atotal of 14 regiments and one OCS regiment during the period14 June through 8 August. A WF Regimental Cycle is 29days long and incorporates a wide range of subjects designedto develop and evaluate leadership and officer potential. Thechallenges are mentally and physically demanding, and testintelligence, common sense, ingenuity, and stamina. Thesechallenges provide a new perspective on an individual‟sability to perform exacting tasks and to make difficultdecisions in demanding situations.g. The training at WF utilizes small unit tactical trainingas the vehicle for evaluating officer potential. Training isorganized into separate committees in a tiered structure. Eachregiment follows a progressive sequence of training, ensuringstandardized training and evaluation of all Cadets.h. The regimental training cycle builds on previoustraining events, beginning with individual skills andculminating with rigorous section-level training. The OCSRegiment participates in FLRC, Squad STX, Confidence, andPatrolling under the same conditions and standards as theCadet Regiments.b. The Commander, 8th Bde, U.S. Army Cadet Commandis the WF Commander and is responsible for all mattersrelating to WF. Forces Command (FORSCOM) and FortLewis provide, within capabilities and mission priorities,necessary equipment, facilities, and support personnel for theconduct of WF.2. PROGRAM OF INSTRUCTION.a. TRAINING PROGRAM. The training regimen issequential and progressive; starting with individual trainingtasks and building to complex collective training.c. Within thatframework, the WF mission is to train Cadets and officercandidates (OC), develop Cadet/OC leadership, and evaluateCadet/OC officer potential.b. REGIMENTAL CYCLE DATESREGIMENT1st2nd3rd4th5th6th7th8the. WF is the single most important event thus far in thecareer of a Cadet or officer candidate. AsCadets perform as leaders or team members, evaluators assessperformance and identify strong and weak areas of leadershipbehavior. At the same time, each Cadet/OC has theopportunity to evaluate his/her own performance. Within 24hours of completing a leadership position, Cadets arecounseled on their performance. Each Cadet will also receiveone-on-one counseling at the end of WF as the TACs reviewCadet Command Form 67-9, WF Cadet Evaluation Report(CER).TRAVEL NOTES:(1) ALL Cadets are to report on the dates listedabove. Similar to WF 09,the dates listed above coincide withDay 1 on the Master Training Schedule. It is imperative thatCadet travel be scheduled to arrive on the date above.Additionally, flights should be scheduled to arrive ASEARLY AS POSSIBLE in the day (Pacific Coast Time).b. EVALUATED AREAS. Cadets are evaluated in thefollowing areas:(1) APFT. The three events are pushups, sit-ups, andthe 2-mile run, as specified in FM 21-20.(2) Cadets departing WF should NOT make criticalpersonal plans for the day following graduation. Historically,flight schedules or other travel issues have caused unexpecteddelays in Cadets‟ travel, delaying arrival at their nextdestination (HOR/School/etc.) until the DAY FOLLOWINGgraduation.(2) Land Navigation. Land Nav is comprised ofthree components: a written examination worth 20 percent, adaylight practical exercise worth 50 percent, and a nightpractical exercise worth 30 percent. The minimum score forpassing is 70 percent in each area (14 of 20 points on thewritten test; 35 of 50 points (5 of 8 stakes) on the daylightpractical; and 21 of 30 points (3 of 5 stakes) on the nightpractical.c. SPECIAL EVENTS.(1) Educators‟ Visit to WF (for Educators and NurseEducators) will begin on Sunday, 11 July (travel day).Departure date is Wednesday, 14 July for Educators andThursday, 15 July for Nurse Educators.(3) Leadership performance. Cadets are rated inindividual leadership performance using the Cadet CommandLDP system and can expect to receive graded evaluationsduring the following events:(2) New Leader‟s Orientation (for BrigadeCommanders/SGMS, PMSs and SMIs) will occur Sunday, 4July through Friday, 9 July (includes travel days). MOI TBPfollowing the WF Planning Conference.- Regimental Leader Assessments (2)- Field Leaders Reaction Course- Squad STX Leader Assessments (2)*- Patrolling PL, APL or Sqd Ldr Assessment**Assessed at the combined Tactics Committee(3) POC for both events is MAJ DeAndre Garner at253-966-8038 (DSN 347-8038)c. WF COMPLETION CRITERIA. To successfullycomplete WF, Cadets must:(4) WF Planning Conference (selected personnel) isthe week of 8-12 February 2010. MOI TBP at a later date.POC is Joel Manning at (253) 967-3256.(1) Meet Height/Weight and Body Fat standardsIAW AR 600-9. See WF Policy Memo #1 (Appendix E).(5) The WF Terrain Walk (selected personnel) is theweek of 8 -12 March 2010. MOI TBP at a later date. POC isJoel Manning at (253) 967-3256.(2) Pass the APFT with a minimum score of 60points in each event. Cadets failing the initial test will beconsidered for retention at LDAC. If retained, Cadets willreceive one additional opportunity to pass the APFT. See WFPolicy Memo #1 (Appendix E).3. EVALUATIONa. GENERAL. The Leadership Development Program(LDP) is a critical part of WF, providing evaluations ofleadership potential through a series of formal and informalassessments. Teams of evaluators assess Cadet and OfficerCandidates (OC) (OC National Guard only) performance inleader and follower positions. The primary evaluators are the(3) Pass Land Navigation by attaining a minimum of70 percent on all tests (written and practical). See WF PolicyMemo #1 (Appendix E).2

As of 8 JAN 10Cdt Cmd Cir 145-05(4) Earn a minimum rating of Satisfactory on each ofthe 17 Core Competencies (Part V) and 9 Army Values on theCadet Evaluation Report (Cadet Command Form 67-9).Commissionees who have failed the Diagnostic Swim Test oncampus must have a Commissioning Swim Waiver from theCommanding General, Cadet Command. A copy of thiswaiver must be included in the Cadet‟s Personnel Record.(5) Complete at least 90% of training.6. RECONDO BADGE: The following are the criteria toreceive the RECONDO Badge.Cadets failing to meet the standards above will be consideredto determine whether they merit WF Graduation Credit.a. Execute specified Confidence events presented tostandard on the day of scheduled execution. Failure to meetthe standard for ANY event denotes a “NO GO” for badgequalification.4. PHYSICAL CONDITIONING/APFT.a. GENERAL. WF demands a high level of physicalfitness. Cadets cannot keep pace with the training program ifthey are not in good physical condition upon arriving at WF.b. Achieve an APFT score of 270 or above withoutretesting, 90 points minimum in each event.b. PREPARATION.c. Without retest, achieve a score of 80% or higheron each event of the Land Navigation proficiency test (16/20Written, 40/50 (6/8 stakes) Day, 24/30 (4/5 stakes) Night).(1) Cadets should already have a personal programof conditioning. If not, start one immediately and continue ituntil reporting to WF.d. Complete the following 1st Aid tasks to specifiedstandard: CPR, Evaluate a Casualty, Manage the Airway,Control Bleeding (less burns) and Chest Wounds(2) Be fully knowledgeable of the APFT events,standards, and administrative procedures, and be ready toachieve the highest possible score. Historically, the pushupevent has the highest failure rate with the main problem beingone of FORM.e. Achieve satisfactory or higher performance ratingson BOTH Squad STX evaluations.(3) Wear both pairs of combat boots that you willbring to WF during physical activities to break them in prior toarriving at WF. Do this gradually to avoid foot injuries.Blisters continue to be a problem with Cadets. The moreCadets wear boots prior to attending WF the betterprepared they are.f. Successfully complete WF without a performancewaiver. Medical waivers are acceptable.g. Receive satisfactory or higher summary ratings forall 17 scored Core Competencies and 9 Army Values, asreported on the Cadet Command Form 67-9, Cadet EvaluationReport.(4) Condition your body in preparation for extendedfoot marches with a 35 pound rucksack. Throughout WFCadets will footmarch anywhere from 1 to 10 Kilometers(KM) daily.h. Meet Height/Weight or Body Fat Standards IAWAR 600-9.7. LEADER STAKES5. SWIMMING REQUIREMENTS.a. PURPOSE. Leader Stakes promotes unit cohesion,teamwork, and esprit de corps through organize competition inselected scored events during WF.a. GENERAL. All Cadets scheduled for WF attendanceare required to pass the Diagnostic Swimming Test and theCombat Water Survival Test (CWST) on campus prior toattending WF, as outlined in Cadet Command Reg 145-3, para2-6. Even though the CWST at WF has been cancelled untilfurther notice, the waiver process described in the followingparagraph remains in effect to provide the command visibilityon weak/non swimmers.b. GENERAL. The training program integratescompetition throughout WF with the focus at platoon level.The office of the Commandant of Cadets compiles results todevelop platoon rankings in the following events:(1) APFT: Highest average platoon scoreb. WAIVERS. WF attendance waivers from Cadetsfailing either event on campus must be approved by theBRIGADE COMMANDER and submitted, along with theCadet‟s Personnel Record, to HQ, 8th Brigade , ATTN:ATCC-HPA, NLT 5 April 2010. Schools must also ensure thewaivers are accurately recorded in CCIMS. EOWF(2) CPT Kimberly Hampton Field Leaders ReactionCourse (FLRC): Platoon average overall evaluations(3) CPT Sean Grimes 1st Aid Certification: Highestnumber of first time GO‟s3

It is strongly recommended that Cadets NOT bescheduled for Airborne or Air Assault School during thesummer prior to attending WF.10. ENROLLMENT & CONTRACTING STATUS FORWF ATTENDANCE.g. Temporary Medical Conditions. Cadets who have preexisting temporary medical disqualifying conditions mayattend WF provided they obtain medical clearance from theCadet Command Surgeon. Any Cadet suffering a significantillness or injury during the Spring term prior to WF attendancemust pass an APFT and meet AR 600-9 standards uponrecovery to certify readiness to attend WF.a. Unless deferred, all contracted Cadets who havecompleted their MSIII year must attend WF prior toenrollment in MSIV.b. All Cadets scheduled to attend WF, except immigrantaliens and non-scholarship Senior Military College Cadets,must be under contract and enlisted in the USAR or ARNG (asapplicable), prior to reporting to WF. Cadets cannot have aCCIMS enrollment status of “B” or “R”.h. Deferment requests are considered only for medicalreasons, financial or personal hardship, mid-year entry, orcompelling academic reasons. Deferments requireBRIGADE COMMANDER approval. See CC Reg 145-31, para 4-3.c. Cadets other than those listed above who report to WFand are not properly contracted will be immediately releasedfrom WF.(1) Medical Deferment. A medical deferment willbe granted for any Cadet with a medical condition thatobviously precludes completion of required training, e.g.Cadet with a recent fracture that still requires a cast.d. The majority of MSIII Cadets arriving at WF should bein a current pay status for subsistence.
