“Pastor-Lee” ThoughtsAs I sit at my desk and think about what to write for this month’s “News” I reflect on beingthankful to God for many things. I’m thankful for this wonderful church, my family and friends, and theopportunity to serve God by serving all of you.As many of you know, several people from our church, as well as other people, had thetremendous opportunity of going to Israel and Jordan from September 20 th-October 2nd of this year. Iwould like to share some of the many special places we had the privilege of experiencing. Our first biblical location we visited was Caesarea Maritima. The city was built on the shores ofthe Mediterranean Sea by Herod the Great. The Apostle Paul was held there for several years. Itwas amazing to be walking on some of the same walkways that Paul walked on. Our next stop was at Mt. Carmel. This was where the Old Testament prophet Elijah confrontedthe 450 prophets of the pagan god Baal. We could view the Valley of Jezreel where manybiblical battles were fought. We visited the town of Capernaum on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. We saw what is believedto be the house of the Apostle Peter. We saw the foundation of the 1st century synagogue whereJesus taught. One of the places I wanted to visit was Caesarea Philippi. It was a very pagan site, yet veryimportant in Jesus’ ministry. It was here that Jesus asked the disciples who they believed hewas, and Peter responded with: “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God”. We had a very inspiring time as we had a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. We had the entire boatto ourselves (except for the crew). As I did at other sites I shared biblical passages pertinent tothe location. I read about Jesus calming the sea and other passages while we viewed thebeautiful Sea and the coastal towns. We visited the cities of Nazareth (Jesus’ hometown) and Cana (where he changed the water intowine). The country of Jordan was our next stop. We visited Gadara, Jerash, Mt. Nebo, and Petra. Oneof the highlights of the trip was the privilege I had to baptize several of our tour participants in theJordan River. It was near the location where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. We re-entered Israel and visited the Dead Sea (some of us floated on the Dead Sea – anamazing experience). We went on to Masada (one of Herod’s fortresses), Qumran (where theDead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947), and on to Jericho (the oldest city in the world). You’ll hear more about our visit to Jericho on November 3rd as I will be preaching on “Climbing aSycamore Tree”. We then rode in our bus “up” to Jerusalem and saw for the first time theTemple Mount. We spent our last few days in the Jerusalem and Bethlehem areas visiting many special sitesincluding: the City of David, Hezekiah’s Tunnel, the Western Wall, the Wailing Wall, the Churchof the Holy Sepulchre, the Shepherd’s Fields, the Church of the Nativity, Herodium (another ofHerod’s fortresses), and many other sites. We also went to the Garden Tomb where, aftervisiting Golgotha (the “Place of the Skull”) and the Tomb itself, we had a short Worship Serviceand celebrated the Lord’s Supper.I’ll be sharing more and more of our trip in the coming months – sharing some of the picturesand experiences from visiting some of the most holy sites in the world – the Holy Land!In His Service,Pastor Lee3

Looking at the grid, you see clear squares and solid squares. The clear or whitesquares indicate missing letters in the grid. The solid squares indicate the end of a word or, looking at it anotherway, the space between two words. Words can wrap around from one row to the next, so the end of a rowDOES NOT mean that is the end of the word. ONLY a solid square indicates the end of a word. Once thepuzzle is solved, the message reads horizontally, from left to right, across each row—as if you’re reading a book.Answer on page 4.Bible Quotefall PuzzleALODEYYYULHYOREAUREGNADDM MOUPOPVETCONENERMECMYTOSISSIMDUHAVA8

Family worship is not the only factor, of course. Family worship is not a substitute for other parental duties. Family worship without parental example is futile. Spontaneous teaching that arises throughout a typical day is crucial, yet set times of family worship are also important. Family worship is the foundation of biblical child-rearing.File Size: 432KB
