Extendedtestingwindows forspring andsummer2021? STAAR:The online testing window isextended for both STAAR 3–8assessments and STAAR endof-course (EOC) assessments:Five weeks for the April 2021STAAR grades 3–8 and EOCassessments ( 7th Writing,April 6–May 7)Five weeks for the May 2021STAAR grades 3–8assessments (6-8 Reading &Math, 8th Science & SocialStudies May 7–June 11)STAAR Alternate 2: TheSTAAR Alternate 2 testingwindow has been extendedto include:a two-week preview window(March 15–26) anda six-week testadministration window(March 29–May 7).

Students who receive remote instruction may be administered aSTAAR during the spring and summer 2021 administration windows ?TO ENSURE EQUITY FOR ALL STUDENTS, A STUDENT MUST BE PRESENT ATA MONITORED TESTING SESSION AND MUST BE SUPERVISED BY A TRAINEDTEST ADMINISTRATOR.ADMINISTRATIONS FOR THE 2020–2021 SCHOOL YEAR HAVE BEENEXTENDED TO GIVE DISTRICTS MORE FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULINGASSESSMENTS AND MORE OPPORTUNITY TO TEST ALL ELIGIBLESTUDENTS.DISTRICTS WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW APPROPRIATE CITY AND PUBLICHEALTH PROTOCOLS DURING ANY ADMINISTRATION.

Students who arereceiving remoteinstruction doesnot participate inthe spring 2021administrations? For any eligible student receiving remote instructionwho does not go to the campus or designated testingsite to take a STAAR or STAAR Alternate 2 onlineassessment in spring 2021, the district should indicate “O” for other in the SCORECODE field and “0” under column D in the AGENCY USEfield. Students who do not take the STAAR will be missing anopportunity to meet assessment graduationrequirements. ELs will be missing an opportunity topotentially be reclassified as English proficient.

If a student is requiredto quarantine duringthe district scheduledassessment day and isnot able to test duringthe remainder of thetesting window? If a student is not able to take aSTAAR or STAAR Alternate 2,assessment during the allowabletesting window due to COVID-19quarantine, then the student's testshould be marked "A" for absent. There are extended testing windowsthis year to help reduce thelikelihood that this situation occurs

What happens if you don't take theSTAAR test and you are in-person forlearning? If a student attends class butrefuses to take theSTAAR or STAAR ALT. test,the test MUST still be scored, asrequired by the Texas EducationAgency. This resulting in a failing scorecould impact the student'spromotion to the next grade,especially promotion from 5th and8th grades. (Note: Not SSI year)

Salvador Sanchez Middle School will continue to followappropriate city and public health protocols during anyadministration STAAR test. Students will not arrive before 7:45- ESWIPE must becompleted before entering building, student's temperaturewill be taken upon arrival. All students must wear facemasks and maintain 6 ft social distance. Students will eat breakfast and report to testing room withfully charged computer and bring earphones/headsets. Students will test from 8:30-12:30 (Students may bring drysnack and water) Students will then be escorted to cafeteria. Students willeat lunch or pick up sac lunch if they are being picked upafter testing. (Parents will need to sign student out in theoffice) Students who stay on campus after testing will report toscheduled classes. Students are expected to leave promptly after school.Ensuring SocialDistancing oncampusesduring testadministration.
