Peterson.“Because up until this time, there was really no incentive foryou to do both. So, we felt likeif we did an honorary program, where it would be a reward-typesituation, then people wouldwant to do industry cert. as wellas PSR in reading and math.”Within the three years (10th, 11th,and 12th), a student has to earnan industry certification and thenreceive your PSR certification inyour last two years. In your 10thgrade year, you can earn youcertification, but you have toearn your college readiness inyour 11th and 12th grade year. This means that you are able tobe inducted in the 11th or 12thgrade.Mrs. Buchanan also stated, “Youget to wear a special medallionfor graduation and you get aspecial pin and a certificate. It’s always a very formal affair. We have this very special formalinduction for that after school atthe restaurant. Sothat’s what it means to me, a sortof a ‘pat-on-the-back’ that wedon’t get a lot of.”Once the “Teacher of the Year”has been chosen in the school,he or she is able to compete forthe district, with other teachersfromotherschools.Being“Teacher of the Year” also givesteachers an honor to speak forthe graduating class.“Actually, I don’t mind speakingin front of people, so I think I’llbe okay. And thenI went and thought like, ‘Oh,I have to do this now’. We hadskating parties at school and Ilive really close to the rink, so Igrew up roller skating. So, I was pretty good at it and,‘Ah, this would be easy,’ just likeI did with teaching. Volume 3 Issue 1 October 2014Raving ReviewsThe Vlad Taltos SeriesPage 7New Peterson AcademyBy Steven BrustBy Anne CarterThe Vlad Taltos Series, has tobe one of my favorite book series ever, having read the wholething, fourteen books, twice. Theseries begins in a book calledJhereg, and goes up to the fifteenth book, which is releasing October 7th, which seems tobe just as good as all the others. Said books span multiplejourneys with the assassin, VladTaltos, and his jeherg, a flyingreptile, Loiosh. I give it a hardyrecommendation, and you canbuy the books in bundles, withtwo to three books in each.A new academy at Frank H. Peterson specializes in automationand robotic technology. This class also teaches students therequirements and needs of an automation production line. Unlikethe robotics class, which expands on the Advanced Manufacturingcourse, covering what makes a robot work, what a robot is made upof, low level programming, and how to control them.Kingdom HeartsThe Automation Production class started in the school year of 20122013.
