INTRODUCTIONNEDL RRP PRICE LISTEssential medicines are those that satisfy the priority health care needs of the population; thus shouldbe easily available in adequate quantities and in suitable dosage forms. The Essential Medicine List[EML] is a tool that can help manage the purchasing and distribution of medicines and the selectionof quality assured and cost-effective products and thus one of the vital tools needed to improve andmaintain health. The NEDL was formulated after consultation with all the stakeholders in the healthcare industry and based on the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Drugs List, which serves as the essentialdrugs list for the Ministry of Health since 1983 [1].The NEDL price list currently consists of 288 NEDL items from 28 different types of pharmacologicalgrouping and 299 items of different packaging and volume. The list was extracted from the Private SectorMedicine Wholesale Price Survey 2011 publication. The prices were reported in minimum, median andmaximum price.
