Jefferson County 4-H Family Newsletter864 Collins Road, Jefferson, Wisconsin 53549(920) 674-7295 FAX: (920) 674-7200 u/To all members, leaders, and families of the Jefferson County 4-H Program:Volume XIV, Issue 3March 2014It is with a heavy heart and also excitement of my next life phase that I officiallyannounce my retirement from U.W. Extension and 4-H. My last day in the office willbe Monday, March 3, 2014.Over the last 13 years with U.W. Extension and the 4-H community of JeffersonCounty I have had many joys and memorable moments with so many of you; and prior tothat 2 years as part of the Jefferson County Zoning Department. I have workedwith several Youth Development Agents throughout it all: Sue Pleskac, Jill Tingey, GailRoberts and our newest addition, Sarah Torbert. All very committed, determined tomake 4-H the best; I have been lucky to work alongside them in this common goal.Being in 4-H myself as a youth, I have understood the importance of what 4-H bringsto involved families, as you all do as well. It’s not just the youth that gains but theentire family, becoming closer with the trials of winning and losing. As we all learn inlife it’s not always about “winning the blue ribbon” but the experiences that we have inall the challenges from learning how to sew that first seam, how to clean and feed acalf, taking and framing pictures, accepting constructive criticism from judges, tokeeping records of time, costs, what was learned, and organizing all the wonderfulinformation into a record book of your 4-H year. There has been planning for FamilyProject Days, Foods Review, Clothing Preview, Fair, Camp, Special Emphasis, Awards;the list is endless. This could not be successful without the help of all the amazingvolunteers and mentor youth who participate to make the best even better. It’s calledteam work! I am grateful for everything that you have done over the years to help mehelp you. All of these activities are wonderful memories and experiences that will lastfor a lifetime and I am thankful for the opportunity over the last several years toshare in them with you and your families. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your4-H family for the last 13 years. I have treasured your children: watching them growin character and knowledge, participate in the local community, and gaining theconfidence needed for their futures. While I am stepping down from my official role, I will continue to be involved with theJefferson County 4-H program in a personal sense, along with 3 of my granddaughters.I look forward to an ongoing relationship with each of your families and will count onseeing all of you at future 4-H events. Again, thank you 4-H Family for allowing me toserve you.Sincerely,Judy StatzJefferson County 4-H SecretaryMarch 2014 4-H NewsletterAn Open House will be heldin honor of Judy’sRetirement on February 28,2014 at the UW-ExtensionOffice from 3:30-5:00 pm.Everyone is welcome!TopicPageCentennial NewsGeneral NewsOlder Member NewsLeader NewsSpecial Emphasis NewsFair NewsProject NewsClub ReportsClovers to Foods RevueRegistrationMarch CalendarApril CalendarContact Information2234455-1111-121213141516Spring is around the corner, Ihope!
