Education Alumni Profile Rachel Matzdorf - Teacher “The first day I stepped into my own classroom, I knew that I had been well prepared for that very moment. Thought provoking discussions about educational theories, days spent typing out my own philosophy of education, and nights spent designing units and lesson plans all led to me teaching and inspiring a class of my own. ! The education department at ENC equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and tools I needed to successfully begin my career as an elementary teacher. Dr. Ranstrom and Dr. Scott were instrumental in helping me navigate how I felt best to manage a classroom, determine the research based strategies that I thought most beneficial to my students, and most importantly how to reflect Jesus’ love to my students in the public school setting. ! While I still currently teach 3rd grade in Quincy, God has placed it on my heart to return to ENC and teach a class. I hope to be able to inspire and prepare teachers in the same way that ENC has inspired and prepared me.” ! ! ! ! !
