Welcome! On behalf of our entire team, I would like to welcome you and wish you much success in your career at the City of Winter Springs. We believe firmly in the concept of teamwork and that each employee contributes directly to the City’s success. We hope you will take pride in being a member of our team. The following Personnel Manual was developed to outline some of the City’s expectations of you as an employee and to provide you with information about how the City’s personnel system works. Please familiarize yourself with its contents as soon as possible. It will answer many of the common questions about employment with the City of Winter Springs. INTRODUCTORY STATEMENT This Manual is designed to acquaint you with the City of Winter Springs and provide you with information about working conditions, employee benefits, and some of the policies affecting your employment. You should read, understand, and comply with all provisions of the manual. It describes many of your responsibilities as an employee and outlines the programs developed by the City of Winter Springs to benefit employees. One of our objectives is to provide a work environment that is conducive to both personal and professional growth. A set of personnel policies cannot anticipate every circumstance or question about policy. From time to time, the need may arise for the City to make changes in this manual. The City reserves the right to revise, supplement, or rescind any policy or portion of this manual at any time at its sole and absolute discretion. Employees will be notified in as timely a manner as possible of such changes to the Personnel Policies as they occur. EMPLOYEE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM As an employee of the City of Winter Springs, I understand that I should consult this manual for information concerning employment with the City. Where questions are not answered in the manual, I understand that I should consult the General Services Director or designee. Further, I understand that I have voluntarily accepted employment with the City and acknowledge there is no guarantee of continued employment. Either I, as the employee, or the City Manager may end the employment relationship at any time during the probationary period, with or without cause or advance notice. The City Manager may end the employment relationship with cause thereafter. Since the information, policies, and benefits described here are necessarily subject to change, it is acknowledged that revisions to the Personnel Policies may occur. All such changes will be communicated through official notices, and I understand that revised information may supersede, modify, or eliminate existing policies. Only the City Commission, upon recommendation of the City Manager, has the ability to adopt any revisions to the policies of this Personnel Policies. Furthermore, I acknowledge that this Personnel Policies Manual is neither a contract of employment nor a legal document. I have received the Manual, and I understand that it is my responsibility to read and comply with the policies contained in this Manual and any revisions made to it.
