HARPS – WHAT IS IT? “A harmonised food safety scheme (replacement, not new) developed by the major grocery retailers to reduce duplication, confusion and cost” Objectives: 1. Harmonise the different Quality Assurance certifications required by the major grocery retailers to eliminate multiple audits 2. Further develop food safety auditor competency to secure a capable, robust and reliable auditing community

Scope is food safety for whole produce HARPS is simple for users, but complex to develop Multiple stakeholders (retailers, Certification Bodies, Scheme Owners, QA facilitators, ACCC, Hort Innovation, AFGC) Platform for other complex multi-stakeholder issues to be discussed Funded by Hort Innovation (and retailers)

HARPS - How does audit information flow? Audit is Scheduled Audit is scheduled by your nominated CB against your chosen base scheme as well as HARPS Audit is Conducted Audit outcome is provided to: PMA Admin (for base scheme CARs, and HARPS audit report HARPS CARs) Retailers nominated to receive the audit outcome Supplier is Approved Once all CARs (base scheme and HARPS) have been addressed, CB advises PMA Admin and approval is granted Data is held securely by PMA
