age groups Simcha Joy (Kindergarten) Classic half-day: 9 am - 1 pm Classic full-day: 9 am - 4 pm Specialty half-day: 9 am - 12 pm* Even our first time campers want to have fun and explore. Camp can be challenging for our youngest friends - just as they have gotten their routine down at school or at home, they are in a new environment, doing new things. We recognize this and work to give our Simcha campers some extra TLC. Simcha introduces kids to camp, promoting fun, friendship, and life skills. Experiences will encourage your child to make new friends, build social skills, develop teamwork, inspire imagination, and foster creativity. Simcha provides a well-rounded foundation for the future. With smaller camper-to-counselor ratios, experienced counselors, structured activities, purposeful play, and naptime option for full day campers, we aim to balance the needs and interests of each child. Campers must be fully potty trained. Kehila Community (Grades 1 - 2) Classic: 9 am - 4 pm Specialty half-day: 9 am - 12 pm or 1 - 4 pm* Kehila engages campers in a wide variety of ageappropriate activities within a well-planned and structured format. Campers are encouraged to try new things, work as a team, think outside the box, and be creative. We promote curiosity, persistence, and self-control. Campers will gain self-confidence and adaptability, all while having fun and making new friends. *For Specialty Camps: See grid on pages 10-11 for times and options. See pages 14-15 for descriptions. 12 Register at: oregonjcc.org/daycamp Ruach Spirit (Grades 3 - 4) Classic: 9 am - 4 pm Specialty half-day: 9 am - 12 pm or 1 - 4 pm* Tailored to their growing interests and activity levels, Camp Ruach promotes social skills, adaptability, and self-confidence. Campers are encouraged to collaborate and co-create with one another in an environment that promotes positivity and growth. We strive to instill accountability, initiative, and creativity and provide campers with the support to try new things and explore new interests. Kef Joy (Grades 5 - 6) Classic 9 am - 4 pm Specialty half-day: 9 am - 12 pm and 1 - 4 pm* Camp Kef generally offers field trips and adventures for our oldest campers, and like many things this year, Kef will look a little bit different. Though we will be staying on campus throughout the summer, we will still have the opportunity for exploration, discovery, and most importantly, social interaction with peers. We aim to foster valuable life skills with Kef campers, such as, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration. Campers have the opportunity to work as a team and build independence, all while having “Kef” (fun)! CIT (Grades 7 - 10) Classic 9 am - 4 pm This leadership development program is designed to empwwower teens by offering new responsibilities, challenges, and adventures including working with younger campers and team-building. CITs will gain real life experience and skills that will teach them how to be positive mentors and leaders. CITs will work closely with trained and experienced staff in a fun, fast-paced setting; participate and help lead in team spirit; and create and run their own activities. Our CIT program is a great stepping stone for youth and gets them ready for enhanced responsibilities. Many of our CITs go on to become camp counselors or land their first job, and they thank their CIT experience!

Full-Day Half-Day Classic Camp Specialty Camps All age groups All age groups Classic camp Simcha, Kehila, Ruach, Kef CIT Weekly: June 21 - August 20 Classic camp includes sports, cooking, Jewish culture, drama, nature, arts crafts, and swimming (If guidelines permit). Campers often stay with the same counselor throughout the summer, providing a sense of consistency and helps to keep campers feeling safe and comfortable. Classic camp has a different theme each week! Campers create crafts, play games, and do activities that revolve around the theme. See pages 10 - 11 for the themes. We go outdoors as often as possible, but have the opportunity to stay indoors as well. All Classic campers celebrate Shabbat on Fridays. Swimming In previous years, our campers have pool time each day. It has always been one of the great benefits of MJCC Day Camp! Current state restrictions due to the pandemic have shifted many aspects of camp, including swimming. Our hope is that state guidelines continue to evolve and that our campers will have the opportunity to swim this summer. We have an outstanding aquatic facility that allows kids to enjoy the water safely under the close supervision of Red Cross certified lifeguards. Discover, create and play! All aboard the imagination train as your young scientist takes a journey around the world of science. Join in the fun as we make our own inventions while exploring the world of inventors, learn to cast fossils in the domain of the dinosaurs, explore the vastness of space and create a comet, watch the pull of gravity with parachutes and feel the heaviness of the air pressure all around us. Moving with Science Join the Mad Scientist in a fun-filled exploration of how science keeps our world moving. Take a closeup look at a wide array of scientific disciplines including chemistry, biology, engineering, physics and optics. Take apart owl pellets to see what they cannot digest! Join a team of camper engineers and build bridges, domes, cubes and pyramids. Make your own sidewalk chalk, crystal garden and a chromatography-dyed T-shirt! Junior Science Explorers Decipher the world all around us in this exciting camp designed just for your young scientist! Campers will develop their earth awareness and explore this world as junior naturalists before heading for space as junior astronauts. Campers will also explore just why their big toe is important and how to find their center of gravity when they investigate the science of sports! Rockets & the Science of Flight Space, rockets, planes and flight. a little bit of everything for a rockin’ good time! Our most popular camp, younger campers have a blast learning the hows and whys of aerodynamics by studying all things that fly: planes, kites, hot air balloons, helicopters and of course rockets. 14

Step into the shoes of a spy in action from decoding messages, to metal detecting and using night vision goggles. Campers will have the opportunity to check out other spy equipment and even create their own edible messages learning how to communicate stealthily just like real spies. Creative Contraptions The Inventor’s Camp Creative contraption warning! Junior inventors go on a journey of discovery from the real life inventions of daVinci, Edison and the Wright brothers to Isaac Asimov’s dreams of future inventions. Each day campers are given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important thing of all. their mind. With a little bit of ingenuity they’ll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate innovative flying contraptions, design their own gizmo prototypes and will even assemble a working light saber. Microscopic Explorers Start off with a bang by creating some amazing chemical reactions! Make a lemon powered battery, find out how aspirin works and witness some frenetic fireworks. Discover how chemicals combine to form living cells, and take a look through a microscope to see one up close. End the week by learning how living cells combine to form functioning organs. Understand your body from the atoms on up! Rocket Lab 3.2.1.Blast Off! This camp is rockets, rockets and more rockets! Build and launch a rocket everyday as you learn all about, you guessed it, rockets! Your child is in for an action-packed week focused entirely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. Campers will learn the importance of teamwork in launching rockets and will have the opportunity to try their hand at each role. Brixology Brixology sets the foundation for our next generation of makers! Learn about the exciting field of engineering as a Mad Scientist guides you and your team to accomplish engineeringthemed projects using LEGO (R) bricks and other materials. Aerospace, structural, water, learn about engineering the Mad Science way! Underground Explorers Start off with a bang by creating some amazing chemical reactions! Children experience how science is used to collect, analyze and understand what evidence is telling us about a crime scene. 15

Parents stay in the car while a counselor greets you and your child. Look for signs and staff when you enter the parking lot. We will show you where to go! Drop-off Pick-up Curbside Morning Drop-off 8:50 - 9:00 am Curbside Afternoon Pick-up 3:50 - 4:00 pm Please call the camp office for any changes in dropoff or pick-up times, as drop-off promptly ends at 9:00 am. If you are running late for drop-off, our staff will arrange to meet you and your child in the car line at a specified time. Late pick-up may result in a late fee charge of 1 per minute, per child. Lunch Snacks Bring a meat-free and shellfish-free lunch, two snacks, and a water bottle. Camp does not provide snacks or water bottles. Flexible Cancellations Refund Policy Register early and reserve your child’s spot in camp without the risk. If you must cancel camp for Covid related concerns, you may do so with a 100% refund. For non-Covid related cancellations, there will be a 25 processing fee per child per camp. Non-Covid cancellations made within 14 days of the start of camp cannot be refunded. MJCC Day Camp reserves the right to cancel camp programs due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. Should cancellations occur, Day Camp staff will contact the parents/guardians prior to the camp and refunds or transfers will be given. MJCC Day Camp also reserves the right to dismiss a camper whose behavior violates our Behavior Agreement, in which case no refund is given. The Behavior Agreement can be found in the MJCC Parent Handbook that is emailed to all camper families. Please review the behavior agreement with your camper.
