Please notwe are changing the date of HURLEY BOOK DAY and BOOK CHARACTER FANCY DRESS to the Friday 12th March - thisnew date will enable all the children to wear their Fancy Dress outfits to school. It will also give parents a little moretime more time to prepare the children's outfits.NEW DATE FOR OUR HURLEY BOOK DAY FRIDAY 12th MARCHWe have decided to move the school BOOK DAY from next Thursday to the following Friday 12th March. By this new datethe children will have all returned to school - this will be a nice way of celebrating our first week back to school and willenable children to see their friends’ costumes!!!!1

We will be encouraging everyone to dress up as their favourite book Characters for the new HURLEY BOOK day datewhich now on Friday 12th March - during this day teachers will plan activities to promote reading. Also, during this week,we will be issuing each child with a book voucher.RED NOSE DAY FRIDAY 19th MARCHWe have ordered enough Red Noses for every Child. Children can come to school in non-uniform for this day and teacherwill organise interesting fun activities for during the day. Children are asked to make donations for their red noses andevery child will be given a red nose (the recommended donation for the red noses is 1.50)During the final week of Spring Term - Week beginning Monday 29th MarchWe will continue with our annual Easter craft ChallengeThis year we have decided to hold the Easter Extravaganza on- line again like last year. This will enable parents andchildren from different class bubbles can see each other’s entries. We will be asking the children to send in photos of theirEater Craft entries. These photos will be posted on the School Facebook pageThe PTA will be providing a small prize for all the children who have submitted entries so everyone will be rewarded fortheir contributions.Parents and Children are encouraged to make some Easter Craft workThe Easter Craft can be based on any one of the following ideas; ·····Decorated Easter eggs,Easter cards,Easter hats.,Easter gardens.Any other Easter craft ideas are very welcomeParent Evenings will be organised in the Summer TermWe normally hold a second parent evening at the end of this Spring term.However, this year we have decided to move our parent evenings to the Summer term.We will confirm the dates after the Easter Holiday so we can consider the latest government guidelines for the lifting ofthe lockdown.2

HURLEY PRIMARY CURRICULUM PRIORITIES IN THE FORTHCOMING WEEKSWhen the children return, initially we intend to focus on catching up on basic skills and closing any learning gapsHowever, we are very aware of the importance of Promoting children’s Personal Development, Wellbeing and Healthy Lifestyles Ensuring a balanced broad and exciting CurriculumCatching up on Basic Skills and closing any learning gapsWhen children return to school in March as in September our main priority will be to Identify and address any learningGAPS in core subjects Reading, Writing and MathsA broad and exciting CurriculumWhilst ensuring children catchup their basic skills we still recognise the importance of motivating them through a richbroad and exciting curriculum. We are very aware that to achieve successfully and reach their fullest potential childrenneed to be inspired by interesting and stimulating experience. So, while keeping focussed upon the core subject ofReading, Writing and Maths we will continue to ensure children enjoy their learning through a broad and excitingcurriculum.Promoting children’s Personal Development, their Wellbeing and healthy lifestylesAll children need to develop as fit, healthy and happy individualsDeveloping Pupil WellbeingWe will be implementing a whole school approach to developing children’s wellbeing and resilience. Teachers will bedoing activities to welcome the children back to school, making them feel safe and secure and ensuring they findstrategies to strengthen their Wellbeing Whole school events are planned to ensure the children have fun and getopportunities to celebrate events such as book day and red nose day.Developing Healthy LifestylesThe juniors had a great on-line session on healthy lifestyles during lockdown and we plan to continue working withchangemakers to build upon this in future weeks. We intend to continue investing in additional specialist sports coachesto ensure every year group enjoys high quality PE and sports sessions We will also continue to offer all year groupsopportunities to participate in forest school sessions.
