For assistance navigating the website or downloading your profile of interest,contact Jodi Letterman in the NASS Pacific Regional Office at 916-738-6609.UpdatesSales Closing Date Nears for Crop Insurance ProgramsUSDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) reminds producers that the final dates to apply forcrop insurance are approaching. July 1, 2019 is the last day to buy or change your policy forPotatoes and Strawberries. Producers need to purchase, review, or modify their crop insurance

policies before these sales closing dates have passed. Crop insurance provides protection againstcrop production losses due to natural perils such as drought, hail, and excessive moisture. Cropinsurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. In order to receivepremium subsidies, the insured must certify that they meet Highly Erodible Land Conservationand Wetland Conservation requirements (AD-1026) with Farm Service Agency (FSA). For moreinformation contact your agent or you can find an agent online at the RMA Agent Locator.Almond Marketing Order UpdatesUSDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced three amendments to the almondmarketing order were approved by almond producers in April. The changes apply specifically tonominations to the Almond Board of California, the administrative committee charged withadministering the provisions of the marketing order, which is overseen by USDA.The almond producers will vote again in late July and early August as part of a mandatedcontinuance referendum. At that time, the producers will indicate whether they favor continuanceof the marketing order. This continuance referendum is required every five years under thealmond marketing order. For more information contact Peter Sommers at 559-538-1670.Funding OpportunitiesUSDA to Help Cover Producers’ Costs for Organic CertificationUSDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced that organic producers and handlers can applyfor federal funds to assist with the cost of receiving and maintaining organic certification throughthe Organic Certification Cost Share Program (OCCSP). Applications for fiscal 2019 funding aredue Oct. 31, 2019. Certified producers and handlers are eligible to receive reimbursement for upto 75 percent of certification costs each year, up to a maximum of 750 per certification scope,including crops, livestock, wild crops, handling and state organic program fees. Eligible applicantsinclude municipalities, public agencies, federally recognized Indian tribes and nonprofit andfaith-based organizations. Applications are due by July 8, 2019. Up to 500,000 is available forone- to three-year grants. The maximum award amount for any project will not exceed 75,000in fiscal year 2019. Proposals are due by June 10, 2019. Applicants are encouraged to explorethe full program announcement to better match their proposals to these needs. Biologists and agronomists from NRCS and Xerceswill discuss strategies and plants that can be used by farmers and homeowners to assist the iconicpollinator.
