We are grateful for your donation!Hospice care is free for all patients and their family members; hence our operation is strongly dependent on your donation.Funding from the National Health Insurance Fund covers less than half of our budget. Please support the Hungarian HospiceFoundation to ensure that we can continue to provide end-of-life care to even more patients. With a donation of HUF 10,000, you can help us relieve the suffering of one patient for a day. Your donation will give ourpatients safety, comfort and relief from pain. How to donate Wire Transfer10300002-20329055-70073285Magyar Külkereskedelmi Bank Rt.SWIFT/ABA code: MKKBHUHB Payment by checkWe can send you a filled out check upon request! How we can helpAll services and courses arefree of charge.Pain ClinicIt’s open to all cancer patients who need a supportive palliative therapy, pain and symptom control. It also provides freecounselling, treatment and regular check-ups by experts inpalliative medicine. Pain and symptom control is carried outcontinuously and gradually in a preventive way, so symptomscan be minimised or entirely eliminated. Patients can seekhelp from the pain clinic wherever they may be living in thecountry without having to present a doctor’s referral.Inpatient UnitThe Inpatient Unit is the institutional background of our hospice home care for patients in need of inpatient care whenhome care and treatment is no longer effective or possible. We have 10 hospice-palliative beds at our unit. Te aim ofour multidisciplinary team is to provide a better quality oflife for all patients.Hospice Home CareHospice Home Care is available for the terminally ill cancerpatients in Budapest. Physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists and volunteers provide specialist care in patients’ homes. In their home, patients receiveall the services and treatment they would traditionally begiven in a hospital ward in the terminal phase of their illness.Psycho-oncology and Bereavement ServiceThe service is open to all cancer patients and their families inneed of psychological and psychiatric support. Psychologistsand psychiatrists conduct therapies according to the patient’sneeds. Family members also often suffer from the related consequences of the illness and may develop psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety and may evencontemplate suicidal thoughts. Patients are free to seek the services of psycho-oncology without having to present a doctor’sreferral from any part of the country.Voluntary ServiceVoluntary work can make a real difference to us; while ithelps us save on costs, voluntary work is also an expressionof civil commitment, trust, mutuality, solidarity; it is a realcontribution to social cohesion and stability, helps the integration of marginalised people, and sets good a example ofeffective self-help and self-organisation.Contact:Brigitta SandorTel.: 36 1 454 04 25Email: brigitta.sandor@hospicehaz.hu

ABOUT HOSPICECancer is a disease that remains incurable in many cases. However, there is very much we can dofor those patients not receiving curative treatment by managing their symptoms. The circumstancesof our terminal period matter a great deal. We need adequate pain control, attentive care, emotionaland psychological support as well as the close presence of our loved ones. These are the primarygoals for the staff of the Hungarian Hospice Foundation. We believe that treating patients with lovemay give the final period of their lives meaning and purpose. Loving life and respecting human dignity – this is what hospice care means for us.The Hungarian Hospice Foundation was founded by Alaine Polcz in 1991. The opening of the BudapestHospice House (2002) marked the launch of a comprehensive hospice care system for incurable patientsin Hungary. Our comprehensive project (including home and inpatient hospice care, pain ambulance, psychosocial support service, bereavement groups, etc.) sets the goal of enabling terminally ill patientsto spend their final days or months balanced, free of pain with an intact conscience, possibly in theirhomes, together with their loved ones.Activities of Hungarian Hospice Foundation Patient’s Palliative Care, Symptom and Pain Control Psychosocial Support of Patients and FamiliesTraining and Education Centre for HungaryInternational Training centre for Easten-Europe and Europian UnionPR activitiesFields of HopeSpecial Education on Dignity of Life for Children
