Thus, thestudents who select Commerce stream will be required to take 4papers in the Commerce stream, students who select Mathematicsstream, will be required to take 4 papers in Mathematics etc.There are two main objectives of this degree course.a) To prepare computer professionals who can be directlyemployed or start his/her own work as Web Designer,Database User, Assistant Programmer, Coder, Designer of aSystem and LAN implementerb) to train students to a level where they can readily compete forseats for advanced degree courses like MCA, MSc(CS), MSc(IT)and MBA etc.Those who do not opt to select any stream have the option to selectsome papers from mathematics, and others related to Computers.However, papers from Commerce and Management streams will notbe available to such students.The course has been designed keeping in mind the desirablecharacteristics of a competent computer professional. Syllabus For BCA Course – For Batch (2007-2010)- Effective From July 2007¾¾¾¾¾¾Syllabus For BCA Course – For Batch (2007-2010)- Effective From July 2007As per the present AICTE norms the eligibility criteria foradmission to MCA course is – “Graduation with Maths at10 2 or at Graduation level”. In the light of this, thosestudents who have not studied Maths at 10 2 level and wishto be considered for admission to MCA courses at most of theAICTE approved institutions, are advised to opt for “MathsStream” from BCA 3rd Semester. All other students maydecide their choice of specialization from the above fourstream options. Once the option is chosen in 3rd Semester itis obligatory to continue the same till the 5th Semester. Nochange of Stream is allowed in between.For passing the examination minimum 40% marks must bescored in each passing head individually.For passing the semester, aggregate marks must be at least45% in theory & Computer Lab groups separately.For the purpose of award of merit only the marks obtained intheory groups of all semester together shall be considered.To avoid obsolescence the subjects 5BCA5 in Honors streammay change from year to year, and will be announced at theend of semester IV.Papers available in the four streams are given in the abovetable.
