OVERVIEWThe RBI Solar RS-TL system tilts modules to a 5 or 10 angle using tilt leg sets. The RS-TL can bemounted to a variety of low-slope roof applications.The RS-TL carries a Class A Fire Ra!ng under UL1703 for low-slope roofs when used with Type 1,2, or Type 3 modules.If UL1703 is required for your project, a fire shield will need to be installed. INSTALLATIONStep 1. Roof Attachment and L-feetInstall appropriate roof a achment per manufacturer’sinstruc ons. Fasten A L-feet to roof a achment.ARefer to the Project Layout for the L-foot spacing.Step 2. 1st Set of RailsBA ach the 1stset of B rails to the L-feet using the preassembled T-bolts and nuts. Tighten T-bolts to 10 !-lbs.AStep 3. IB Splice ConnectorsC IB splice connectors are required to connect B rails togetherand electrically bond them.Rails can be flush against each other orspaced apart up to ¼”.Insert splice in the side of the rail with fourt-bolt heads lined-up with channel opening and center the splicebetween the two rails.Tighten T-bolts to 10!-lbs.BCStep 4. Tilt LegsDA ach the E small and large D lt legs to the 1stset of rails.The distance between each large and small lt leg is 48” to ensureproper fit up. Refer to the Project Layout for the inter-row spacing.EStep 5. 2nd Set of RailsA ach the rails to the lt legs using the pre-assembled T-boltsand nuts. Tighten T-bolts to 10 !-lbs. Install addi onal IB SpliceConnectors where needed.Step 5. End ClampsSnap the F end clamp onto the rail as shown. Secure themodules by ghtening clamp to 8 !-lbs.8 !.-lbs.FImportant: DO NOT apply additional anti-seizeto the clamps.Step 5. IB Mid ClampsSnap the G IB mid clamp onto the rail with the T-bolt head linedup with the channel opening. Slide the next module against themid clamp and ghten to 10 !-lbs.10 !.-lbs.GIMPORTANT: Be sure that the T-boltindicator line is parallel to the small ribson the G IB mid clamp. GROUNDINGIntegrated WEEB bonds module to module. Serrated T-bolt Serrated T-bolts and serrated flange nut bond both railsand serrated flange nut extend that bond to the rail.and the IB splice connector.WEEB clip bonds the rail to the lug. APPENDIX B: ADDITIONAL GROUNDING NOTESThe RBI Solar RS-TL moun!ng system may be used to ground and/or mount a PV module complying with UL1703 only when the specific module has been evaluated for grounding and/or moun!ng in compliance with theincluded instruc!ons.In order to maintain the Lis!ng for bonding, Listed (ZODZ) or R/C(ZODZ2) wire management device(s) must beassembled according to the manufacturer’s instruc!ons.The RBI Solar RS-TL is a non-separately derived system that is listed under UL 2703 and was evaluated withthe modules listed in the table below. The max fuse ra!ng is 30A, which covers most modules. It is importantto periodically inspect the installed system for loose components, loose fasteners, and any corrosion. If anycorroded parts are discovered, the affected parts must immediately be replaced.Table 1. API RP 581 is a well-established methodology for conducting RBI in the downstream industry and the 3rd edition of the standard has just been published in April 2016. This paper examines the new features of the 3rd edition particularly for internal and external thinning and corrosion under insulation and it also discusses a case study of application of this latest RBI methodology in France .
