We give thanks for whatever brought you,and pray that you may experience the love of God surrounding you and upholding you as wegather together to give thanks to God through Word and Sacrament.IF YOU ARE WORSHIPING ONLINE, we invite you to find a comfortable place for worship.Get some crackers or bread and something to drink so that we can share Communion.Light a candle if you have one.HOLY COMMUNION is God’s Word of love made visible in bread and wine.Individual kits are provided for Communion Distribution. These chalice cups have wine or juice inthe top and bread on the bottom. When the Eucharist is served during the service simply peel backthe seal for each part at the appropriate time. There are trash receptacles in the Narthex at thesame tables you picked up the servings from – please deposit the remnants from the kit there.WE WELCOME CHILDREN IN WORSHIP! Like Jesus who welcomed children to his ministry,Saint Andrew’s welcomes children to our worship services. Take-home paper activity bags with stickers, crayons and paper are available from your usher. “Younger Disciples Tips” are in the bulletin with ideas to engage children in worship. “A Time for Younger Disciples” during worship invites all children to listen to a message. Links to download and print an activity sheet for Sunday are in each week’s Trendings enews.During this heightened time of awareness and prevention regarding Coronavirus, we wouldlike to let you know. In compliance with current guidelines, everyone who is worshiping in-person needs to wear amask. As part of normal practices, the Altar Guild washes hands prior to preparing the Communionsupplies and ensures that common use items are cleaned for use weekly. In addition to these practices, the Altar Guild is also: sanitizing trays and bowls before and after services. wiping down the altar, railing, and baptismal font before and after services. Communion is by individual kits. Worship participants wash hands and use hand sanitizer before, during, and after worship. At the Peace, we share a verbal “Peace be with You” to maintain physical distancing. We are wiping down “common touch” areas in the Sanctuary, such as the armrests and tops ofpews, before each service. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building for use. “Common touch” areas are being sanitized daily. He formed the Order of Friars Minor (called Franciscans), who took on poverty and thetask of preaching “using words if necessary.” Francis had a spirit of gratitude for all of God’screation.Theodor Fliedner, renewer of society, died 1864October 4Fliedner helped to bring about a revival of the ministry of deaconesses among Lutherans. Hewas influenced in this by Moravian deaconesses he had met. The motherhouse he founded inKaiserswerth, Germany, inspired many around the world to take up this ministry.William Tyndale, translator, martyr, died 1536October 6Tyndale was ordained a priest in England, and wished to translate the Bible into English. Hewas opposed in this by King Henry VIII, causing him to flee to Germany. He completed theNew Testament in 1525, but before he could finish the Old Testament, he was tried for heresyand burned at the stake.Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, pastor in North America, died 1787October 7Divided Lutherans in America asked leaders in Europe to send someone who could takecharge and unite their work. Muhlenberg was sent, and was effective in organizing theAmerican Lutherans. Nineteenth Sunday after PentecostOctober 3, 2021GATHERING for THE PLASTER HOUSE: The Plaster House’s goal in 2021 is to provide “HighLove, Low Cost” surgical rehabilitation for 1000 children with disabilities in Tanzania. FounderSarah Rejman will be in the USA to raise funds needed to reach their goal. On Sunday,October 10, Saint Andrew’s will host Sarah for the following: Sarah will be the Discipleship Hour Forum speaker at 11:00 am, online via Zoom. In partnership with Cross of Christ Lutheran, a lunch will be provided at 12:30 pm in theSaint Andrew’s parking lot (outdoors, dress for “Tailgating for Tanzania”). A typical AfricanSafari Box Lunch will be offered, prepared professionally by Kim Unti, caterer. To order abox lunch, RSVP to Jean Wahlstrom. At 1:00 pm, Sarah will give a presentation, also in the Saint Andrew’s parking lot. Othercongregations will be invited. There is no Seahawk game that day, so get your outdoorclothes on and bring a lawn chair. We will have some extra chairs ready as well! Lutheran World Relief is in urgent need of these kits due to low rates ofparticipation and an increase in demand. The items needed are: Bath towels – light weight, dark colors, 20”x40” to 52”x27” Soap – 4 or 5 ounce bars Toothbrushes – adult size Combs – sturdy, no picks or fine tooth combs Nail clippersPlace donations in the basket near the elevator in the Narthex. We are also acceptingmonetary donations.
