MUSTANG I / IIAdvanced ManualIntroductionThis manual is your step-by-step guide to all the advancedfeatures found on your Mustang I / II amplifier. Forinformation on using Fender FUSE , Ableton Live orAmplitube , please see the separate manuals for each productavailable at www.fender.com/support.Programmable KnobsBecause the setting of every knob on the Mustang amplifier(except MASTER) is part of each preset, all programmableknobs are normally inactive and knob positions will NOTshow their actual settings when a preset is first selected.NavigationProgrammable knob positions are inactive unless turnedThere are just a few basics of Mustang navigation that youshould know before you explore any further.Selecting PresetsThe most powerful feature of your Mustang amplifier is itsability to store every amplifier setting and effect selection as apreset that you can instantly recall using the PRESET knob, orremotely from your computer or footswitch. How do I activate a programmable knob? The moment youturn any programmable knob it instantly becomes activeand it will remain active until you select a different preset, atwhich time it becomes inactive again.Use the PRESET knob to select one of 24 presets. Presets arestored in three banks, colored AMBER, GREEN and RED.Turn the PRESET knob to scroll through each bank of presetsin the following order:GREEN BankRED Bank( Factory presets )( User presets )( User presets )Each preset is based on one of the eight amplifier typeslabeled next to each of the preset LEDs. That gives you a totalof three presets for each amplifier type. The RED and GREEN banks are for creating yourown presets. The AMBER bank of presets can only bemodified using Fender FUSE software available free atwww.fender.com/support.Each preset includes the settings of all the programmableknobs on the Mustang, which includes every knob except theMASTER volume and PRESET knobs.8Rotate knobs to activate their positionsYou may hear a big change in volume or tone when youfirst turn a programmable knob if there happened to be alarge difference between the knob's starting position andthe stored preset setting. For example, if the VOLUME knobis pointing to "8" but the stored preset VOLUME setting is"2," the volume level will jump from "2" to "8" when you startturning the VOLUME knob because the VOLUME knob is nowinstantly active at "8." AMBER BankThe only way to know what the preset setting of a knobis before you turn it, is by using Fender FUSE softwareand connecting the Mustang to your computer.EffectsThere are two effect selection knobs on the Mustang: MOD — selects Modulation type effects DLY/REV — selects Delay and Reverb type effects You can also select effects from a STOMPBOX categoryusing Fender FUSE software. The MOD and DLY/REV knobs share the same three selectionindicator LEDs. The knob turned last has control of these LEDs:fender.com
