We hadmany challenges during the early days at Market America, but weknew we had to work hard and we never gave up.Loren: Once I helped encourage my husband to start this brilliantvision, we brought along my brother Marc Ashley, (current MAChief Operating Officer). We initially began Market America out ofour humble home in Greensboro, North Carolina. We didn’t havemuch capital to start with, but we worked diligently to make thecompany a success. Most people don’t know neither of us hadmoney, we put lots of blood, sweat and tears to our company. Wehad drive, passion, belief and nothing stopped us.I love working with my husband! I feel like we balance each otherout. Like most relationships, you need equilibrium and effectivecommunication in order for it to be successful. What is yourvision for it?Loren: I started Loren’s World as a vehicle to empower and inspirewomen and aspiring entrepreneurs. I think there are so manywomen out there that want to be mentored, guided and arewilling to do what it takes to make things happen. Unfortunately,sometimes they might not have the necessary means to do so, orthey don’t know where to start. Here is how she uses social media for business.Loren: I am a social media addict, so much I’ve been thrownin Twitter Jail twice. (Definition of Twitter Jail: When a persontweets more than 100 per hour/1000 per day you can access youraccount by you won’t be able to reply for a couple of hours.) I’mvery passionate about social media. It’s an amazing vehicle thatallows you to communicate with friends, fans and customers.I urge entrepreneurs to promote and grow their business,utilizing social media to interact with customers and build brandawareness. Social media is an essential part of my marketingstrategy, and if you’re not an integral part of it, you’re not aheadof the curve. There is a new paradigm shift and we must learnto evolve and adapt to new tactics. I am most active on Twitterwith over 111,000 followers. I find Twitter an effective form ofconnecting my brands with customers and my fans. I do use othersocial media platforms like Facebook, Linked In, Tumblr, Youtubeand many other platforms. Because I have so many brands and somany accounts I have a social media managers who help me post,but I talk directly to all of my friends and en-ridinger-2My advice to entrepreneurs that are looking to build their brandand monetize through social media is to be consistent. This iscritical when you’re trying to establish yourself in the social mediaspace. Social media addicts and followers have a short attentionspan so it’s important you stay current and are consistent withtheir updates. Social media should be fun, creative and a form ofcommunication. Don’t be too pushy when promoting your brand.Listen to your fans and customers to find out what they are lookingfor. Connect with your customers and always interact!

It’s well known in Hollywoodcircles but not as well known among us average consumers.I’ve previously reviewed several items from Motives that Ireally enjoy (Collagen Core Lipsticks and eyeshadow/mascara/powder). I’m back with more eyeshadows from them that arenew. They are the Motives Mineral Baked Eye Shadow Trios.Motives has now created a mineral line that includes these trios.These come in 5 color combinations. They can be used both wetand dry. Using them wet intensifies the colors making them morevibrant or metallic than using them dry. What makes these uniqueis that they are recommended for people with very sensitive skin,for people who’ve had plastic surgery or chemical peels, and forpeople whose eyes normally react to the pigment in eyeshadows.These contain soothing ingredients like rosemary extract andmagnolia bark extract so they are a good choice for sensitive eyes.In addition since they are baked there aren’t binders in them tohold the pigment together.I have 3 of the 5 choices from Motives to share with you.Confident – while this looks like dark browns in the packaging ittranslates more as a gray brown on my eyes. The shades are a lightcool tone cream that has some luminosity to the finish, a mattemedium brown and a matte brown black.Impatient – vibrant pink, lavender and purple. The lavender has aglittery finish to it that you’ll notice more if you wear that shadewet. The pink and purple are more of a satin finish. These colorscan be intense even dry so blending with a brush like Motives EyeBlender brush works best.Affluent – my favorite, the one I wear the most. This has a lightluminous (not glittery) gold, a midtone brown taupe and a verydark brown. My favorite look with this trio is to use the taupe onmy lid with the gold on my browbone, then line with the darkbrown. I like to use a product like Paula Dorf Transformer when Iuse it as an eyeliner; it makes the liner last all day long. Affluent isa trio that I know I can use at the drop of a hat and look good in.of smoother-looking skin around the eyes and magnolia barkextract which can help reduce the appearance of lines andwrinkles.
