ProfileSettled by a group of Welsh Quakers in 1711, West Whiteland Township occupies 8,250 acres of land inlovely Central Chester County Pennsylvania. West Whiteland’s earliest inhabitants, the Lenni-Lenape Indians, were peaceful agrarian people. Agriculture continued to dominate West Whiteland’s economy as it did most ofChester County, until the mid 20th century. With the proximity of rail, and turnpike access to major markets, theTownship’s farms ranked among the most productive in the region, with wheat a key crop at the time.In 1918, the Church Farm School was established as a 125 acre boarding school for boys to build character and prepare them to lead successful and productive lives. The Church Farm School grew to approximately 1,700 acres andhas been a major factor in retaining the Township’s open characteristics and agricultural uses. The purchase of 700of these acres by Chester County, and West Whiteland Township for Exton Park will preserve open space, as wellas permit active recreation. Although the schools land holdings are much smaller now, they are still an importantpart of the areas character. This quiet community setting is the location for one of Toll Brothers newest communities, Woodledge atWhitford Hills. Located just 15 minutes from the Pennsylvania Turnpike, these luxury carriage homes are only35 minutes from Philadelphia, and also easily accessible to the major corporate centers of King of Prussia, GreatValley, and Wilmington, Delaware. The wooded valley setting of Woodledge is the perfect compliment to homesof uncommon beauty and value. At Woodledge, education is given the highest priority. The Mary C. House Elementary School, and HendersonSenior High School have both received national recognition through the Excellence in Education award from theU.S. Department Of Education.HOMEOWNER/CONDO ASSOCIATIONMid-Atlantic Management Corporation90 South Newtown Street RoadSuite 7Newtown Square, PA 190731
