God’sSanctuaryby theSeaVolume 28, Issue 10October 2019Seaside United Methodist ChurchThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out from their distress;he made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they had quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.Psalm 107:28-32October 4—1:30 to 2:30 PMBlessing of AnimalsSunset Beach Town ParkOctober 5—10:00 AM to 5:00 PMSunset at Sunset Community EventIngram Planetarium AreaOctober 6Shed Closes for Country Fair DonationsOctober 7—6:30 PMUnited Methodist Men’s Dinner MeetingOctober 7—9:00 AMUnited Methodist Women’s BreakfastOctober 9—5:00 PMCountry Fair “Special Event” - All BinsAmple StorageOctober 13—NoonNew Member LunchDirectory PhotosOctober 20—Consecration SundayCountry Fair Kick-Off Concert—4:00 PM“For God and Country”October 25 & 26Country FairOctober 27—10:00 AMOne ServiceDirectory Photos Before & After ServiceOctober 28—6:00 PMChurch Council MeetingHurricane Dorian is a name that we will remember for a long time andfor a lot of reasons. We will remember how it was forecast to hit our areahard. The track of the storm appeared to have its sights set on our littlecommunity. We will remember Dorian for its painfully slow advance acrossthe Atlantic. It seemed that we talked about it for weeks before it finallyskirted our cost to make landfall in the Outer Banks. We will rememberDorian for the many tornado warnings she spawned and those of ourneighbors and friends who were impacted by one of those tornados. However, the most that we will remember Dorian for is the way in which shedecimated the Bahamas. The reports that have circulated out from that islandcommunity is heart breaking. Many lives have been lost, not to mention theproperty that was destroyed. It grips us to the core to see someone lose somuch. As it turns out, my prayer is that Dorian is not the only word we willnever forget. The other word is Bahamas. There were hundreds of people affected and even killed by the stormthere. The level of human suffering isalmost beyond comprehension. Whilemany of us are ready to stop talking aboutDorian, the people of the Bahamas need usto talk about it even more. Remind yourfriends and neighbors of it every chanceyou get. Let them know that our friends tothe south of us in the Bahamas, as well asthose at the Outer Banks, are in need of our help. The United Methodist Committee on Relief has established a coupleof Advance Specials for Hurricane Dorian Relief. There is one for UMCORInternational Disaster Response and Recovery #982450 as well as one forMaterial Resources #901440. Feel free to log onto nccumc.org, ourconference web page, and read more about how you can support HurricaneDorian relief. Thank you for your faithfulness to our Lord and those whom hehas sent us to serve.Still in One Peace,Francis
