Page ThreeNovember 8, 2020Biblical Wisdom – Maintain an ordered life and let the Wordof God take root in your heartMy dear friends:“The fundamental assumption in every aspect of biblical wisdom consisted of a conviction that being wise meant a searchfor and a maintenance of order.” Roland Murphy, Wisdom --God BlessMaeve Ann Hessdaughter of Brian Hess and Jessica Shupp HessWelcome new families!Thesis and Hypotheses, Israelite WisdomAs we approach the end of the Church year and Advent drawsnear, the mood of the liturgy changes perceptibly and becomes eschatological (of, or relating to the end of the worldor the events associated with it). This weekend, the readings chosen by Holy Mother Churchhave a dual purpose. First, to invite us to search for biblicalwisdom, referred to by the feminine pronoun, “she,” whichmeans maintaining an ordered life. Second, to prepare for thereturn of the Lord in glory (Parousia). In our Gospel thisweekend, the foolish virgins are unwise because they did notprepare well for the bridegroom’s return. Preparing for theLord’s return and being ready to receive Him implies that weare wise. The theme of preparing for the end of time is the emphasis ofthe liturgical cycle of readings as we approach the conclusionof Ordinary time (year A) and move into the first three weeksof Advent (year B). Being ready for the Parousia, as I mentioned above, implies that we are biblically wise. The question then, is how are we to get ready for the Lord’s return inglory? The answer, 1) Maintain an ordered life. 2) Listen tothe word of the Lord and make it take root in your heart.God bless,Brendan and Lauren BisconeFrank and Noelle DeRosaWesley and Gina GuuKevin and Sammy InterlicchioLarry and Jacquie PetrasCsaba and Csilla RekeckyPeter and Ofelia RiggersTC and Brianna SawickPark and Julianne SmithSebastian and Yayi Soto TambuttiDarren and Cynthia WeissmanGetting Through the HolidaysThe Consolation Ministry invites you to attend “GettingThrough the Holidays during COVID 19” via ZOOM onThursday evening, November 12 at 7 PM.REGISTRATION is REQUIRED.If you are interested in participating or have questions, pleasecall or email one of the facilitators listed below. Page EightNovember 8, 2020BOLD Youth MinistryKindergartenKindergarten has been buzzing withall kinds of work and fun! In additionto our lessons in language arts, reading, math, science, social studies, andreligion, kindergarten students havebeen working on social skills. The students celebrated Halloweenwith stories, crafts, and games. But thehighlight of the festivities was the“Apple Bobbing” STEM challenge. The students discussed the way scientists and engineers solve problems. They were asked to comeup with a way to “bob” for apples using a few simple tools. They had a popsicle stick, 2 pipe cleaners, 2 paper clips, and apiece of string. Working in their groups, they brainstormedideas and came up with a plan. Each group had a chance totest their plan, and they were all successful! We have someamazing problem solvers in our kindergarten! We are looking ahead to November, a month of thanksgiving. The students will be making cards for veterans and writingabout what they are thankful for. Keep up the great work kindergarten!!Congratulations to Mrs. Comer!Mrs. Elaine Comer, Grade 2 teacher, has published a book called “TheCracked Cup.” It is a truly beautifulstory, and we could not be prouder tohave a published author in our midst. Her book is available on Amazon andwould be a wonderful Christmas gift.Blue MassCHARITY TO-GOSMOKEHOUSE BBQ:PICK-UP SATURDAY November 14Order by November 10Visit the Knights of Columbus page on the parish websiteor email info@kofc2393.org .To benefit these three charities: Metuchen Diocese Seminarians Sister of Christian Charity – Women of Formation Lyons VA Health Ctr.–Council #2393 programBBQ Sponsor - Minuteman Smokehouse BBQ 30 per meal includes sidesLast Wednesday, we honored our local law enforcement with a "Blue Mass.”Several officers were presentat Mass who have childrencurrently attending SJS, aswell as many local law enforcement from the area.Monsignor Cronin led uswith a blessing over all law enforcement officers, and theschool sang ‘God Bless America’ as we handed out studentmade cards showingtheir gratitude.
