Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver for Windows5Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver lets your applications communicate with your Fiery server, and print documents.Fiery Driver works with Fiery servers that use the PostScript language.When using Fiery Driver, observe the following: Fiery Driver has default settings for most applications and printers. You can easily change the settings if youinstall a new printer option or want to set a specific feature. Print options and their settings let you access the special features of your printer. For example, the Duplex printoption lets you set the orientation of printed images. Some Fiery Driver print options (document properties) are also available from your applications when you printa job. In general, changing the Fiery Driver print options from the Devices and Printers (or Printers and Faxes orPrinters) folder changes the global settings that apply to all jobs printed using the selected printer. You may haveto also select the same settings from the application, because application-specific settings may override the globalsettings. Print settings selected within the application are generally in effect for the current session while youhave the application open.For information about specific Fiery Driver print settings and print options, see Printing, which is part of the userdocumentation set.Fiery Driver UpdaterThe Fiery Driver Updater is installed as part of the printer driver installation. The Fiery Driver Updater has theability to check for updated printer drivers each time you log on to your computer.Note: The Fiery Driver Updater can be installed by an administrator only or a user who has administrator privileges.Updates for common driver components will be provided through the Fiery Driver Updater as needed. Productspecific updates are not provided through the Fiery Driver Updater.Update notifications can be turned on or off from the Fiery Driver Updater, which can be opened from the About tabin the printer driver.Turning off the notifications will also turn off the check for Fiery Driver updates.Keep the following in mind when using the Fiery Driver Updater: The Fiery Driver Updater lists all the Fiery Drivers version 5.0 and later installed on the local system and updatesFiery Drivers version 5.0 and later only. After the driver installation, which installs the Fiery Driver Updater also, has finished, you have to log out and login to turn on the automatic daily checks for driver updates.

Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver for Windows6 After a driver update is available, the driver version available as an update is displayed as a hyperlink in the FieryDriver Updater window. Click the link to open a web page that lists the release notes for that particular driverupdate. To successfully install the driver patch update, make sure that all open applications have the Print dialog boxclosed and the Devices and Printers (or Printers and Faxes or Printers) window in Control Panel is closed. After the driver update patch is applied, the driver version in the About tab is updated to match the availabledriver patch version displayed in the Fiery Driver Updater window. The Fiery Driver Updater supports rollback functionality. After installing a driver update through the FieryDriver Updater, if for any reason the updated driver version needs to be reverted back to the previously installeddriver version, click the rollback icon below the printer driver name. If the Fiery Software Manager is installed on the client system and it prompts to restart the computer, the FieryDriver Updater also shows the restart prompt.Customer Release Notes Fiery Driver UpdaterCommand line installation of the Fiery DriverThe Windows driver file used for the zwebs, PRNTDRV.EXE, now supports silent installation of the driver on anyclient. This feature supports enterprise installation of the Windows driver through the various third-partydeployment tools.To view errors, select Event Viewer Windows Logs Application. PRNTDRV.EXE will be listed as the source of error.Note: Error messages will also be displayed in the command window.The following functionalities are supported: Launching the Fiery Driver Installer WizardNote: To start the Fiery Driver Installer Wizard, launch PRNTDRV.EXE either from the command line orWindows Explorer. Printer driver and printer silent installation Listing of models that the driver package supports Listing of the locales that the driver package supports Driver package extraction Note: The final four functionalities listed are accessed by applying specific parameters to PRNTDRV.EXE from thecommand line.Note: For all functionalities, open the command window CMD.EXE in administrator mode. Once the commandwindow opens, change the folder to the directory where PRNTDRV.EXE exists.Launching the Fiery Driver Installer WizardFiery Driver Installer Wizard Setup.exe will be launched if it is in the driver package and no parametersare passed to PRNTDRV.EXE, which can be accomplished by: Double-clicking PRNTDRV.EXE from the explorer Typing PRNTDRV.EXE in the command window

Instead, theprinter driver installation will continue and the Fiery Driver Installer Wizard will be displayed.Print driver and printer silent installationCommand: PRNTDRV.EXE /install [-i ipaddress/hostname] [-l locale] [-m model] [-p printername] [-q queue] -i specifies the IP address/hostname of the print server that the printer points to. It is up to the user to make -l specifies the two-letter locale of the print driver that should be installed. If the print driver package supports -m specifies the model of the driver that should be installed. The driver package usually supports at least twosure that the specified IP address/hostname belong to a valid print server. No checks will be made for theirvalidity. This parameter is required, and an error will be reported if it is missing.more than one language, then this parameter is required, and an error will be reported if it is missing. If the printdriver package is locale-specific, then this parameter will not be required because there will be only one driveravailable to install within the driver package.models of the print driver. This parameter is optional, and if not specified, the print queue will default to "print."Listing of models the driver package supportsCommand: PRNTDRV.EXE /listmodels [locale]In order to list the models supported by the specified locale, the two-letter locale must be specified next to the /listmodels switch. If the specified locale is invalid or not supported by the driver package, an error will bereported. This parameter is required if the driver package supports more than one locale. If the driver package islocale-specific (supports only one locale), then this parameter will be ignored.Listing of locales the driver package supportsCommand: PRNTDRV.EXE /listlocalesDriver package extractionCommand: PRNTDRV.EXE /extract [path]The [path] parameter is optional, and if not provided, the driver package will be extracted to the Prntdrvr folder,which will reside in another folder with PRNTDRV.EXE. If the path is specified, then it needs to be absolute.Uninstall the Fiery DriverYou can uninstall the Fiery Driver from a client computer.The uninstall utilities can be installed and used locally from a client computer. You do not need to connect to theFiery Driver before you use the software.

The Fiery Software Uninstaller utility from a Mac OS client computer.Fiery Printer Delete UtilityThe Fiery Printer Delete Utility can be installed and used locally to uninstall Fiery Drivers from a Windows clientcomputer. You do not need to connect to the Fiery server before you use the software.The Printer Delete Utility version 3.4.0.02 or later must be installed on the Windows client computer to removeprinter drivers.The Printer Delete Utility runs on the following Windows operating systems in 32-bit and 64-bit versions: Windows 10 Windows 8.1 Windows 8 Windows 7 Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit only) Windows Server 2012 (64-bit only) Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit only)The Fiery Printer Delete Utility can be downloaded from the EFI Support website.1 Go to Support & Downloads.2 Click the Fiery Drivers and Utilities link (available from the Fiery Products).3 You must register before you can download the system software update and documentation. Click Submit tosubmit your registration information.4 Click the Application Software and Tools tab in the Download Center.5 Select Fiery Printer Delete Utility from the Select Software list, select the version from the Select Version list, andclick Find.6 Locate FieryPrinterDeleteUtility.zip in the list of results and click Download.7 Click Accept to agree to the terms of the license agreement.8 Double-click the FieryPrinterDeleteUtility.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.8

Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver for Windows9Uninstall a Windows Fiery DriverThe Windows Fiery Driver can be uninstalled with the Fiery Printer Delete Utility.1 Click Start All Programs Fiery Printer Delete Utility .The Printer Delete Utility window opens and shows all Fiery Drivers found on the computer are listed.2 Do one of the following: To delete a printer, select the check box next to the printer name and click Delete the Selected Printers. To delete all of the installed printer drivers, select the Delete All Printer Drivers check box, and click OK.3 When you finish deleting printer drivers, click Exit.Using command line instructions to delete printer driversYou can use command-line functions for removal of the Fiery printer and corresponding Fiery printer driver onWindows and Mac OS operating systems.Uninstall Windows printer driversYou can use the Fiery Printer Delete Utility from the Command Prompt for removal of the Fiery printer andcorresponding Fiery printer driver on Windows 7 operating systems and later using command-line functions.If you want to test the Command Prompt without the Fiery Master Installer, the only requirement is VC 2008Runtime should be installed on the local Windows system from which the Fiery Printer Delete Utility is run. The VC 2008 redistributable can be downloaded from spx?id 29.1 Install the Fiery Printer Delete Utility using WebTools.a) Start your Internet or intranet browser and type the DNS name or IP address of the Fiery server.b) Expand Software Downloads.c) Click the Printer Drivers link under the Windows tab and follow the on-screen instructions to install.d) Navigate to the local folder where the printer driver files were downloaded and double-click the Fiery PrinterDelete Utility folder.e) Double-click setup.exe and follow the on-screen instructions to install the utility.2 Start Command Prompt as an administrator on your Windows system and navigate to the path where the FieryPrinter Delete Utility is installed.It is installed in the \Program Files\Fiery\Applications3\PrinterDeleteUtility folder.

Printer names must be separated by a comma and the complete listshould be enclosed within \"\ \"\.-getInstalledPrintersGets a list of all printers using Fiery Drivers.Create custom Fiery DriversThe Fiery Driver Configurator is a standalone Windows application that allows an administrator to create customFiery PS Drivers for Windows client computers.By saving the configuration file from the Windows Fiery Driver Configurator and then using the companion Mac OSFiery Driver Configurator, a Mac OS print driver package can be created.The Fiery Driver Configurator essentially creates a simplified printer driver, for example to meet the needs of aparticular group or business unit within a company.The administrator can show/hide and lock/unlock features, and set default settings for the print options.For more information, see Fiery Driver Configurator Help.Open the folder that lists installed printersHow you open the folder that lists the printers installed on a computer depends on the operating system.1 Navigate to the devices and printers on your network.The printers are displayed in the Devices and Printers (or Printers and Faxes or Printers) folder.2 Do one of the following: Windows 10/Server 2016: Press the Windows button on the keyboard to open the Start screen. Click ControlPanel and then click Devices and Printers.Note: Fiery Driver supports all versions of Windows 10 including the Anniversary Update, Creators Update,Fall Creators Update, and Redstone 4. Windows 8.1/Server 2012 R2: Press the Windows button on the keyboard to open the Start screen. ClickControl Panel and then click Devices and Printers. Windows 7/Server 2008 R2: Click Start Devices and Printers.

Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver for Windows11Fiery Printing tabThe Fiery Printing tab serves as the control center for all frequently used printing functions.The Fiery Printing tab contains all the print settings that are specific to the printer. If you choose a default setting, thejob prints according to the settings entered during Setup or the printer's default settings.Note: You can also access and set some Fiery Printing tab options from an application, and the application settingsmight override settings made from Printing Preferences.In addition, some utilities, such as Command WorkStation, can override some print settings for a job. (SeeCommand WorkStation Help.)Fiery Driver groupsThe Fiery Driver groups print options by categories for easy access. Each group or tab contains print options that arerelated or complement each another. Quick Access - Contains duplicate print options from the other job properties groups. It is customizable, so anyprint option can be added or removed from the view. Quick Access tab lets you find print options quickly withoutbrowsing through all of the Job Properties tabs. Job Info - All information about the job, including user information that may be required for user authenticationand job handling. Media - Attributes and sources of paper to print and insert. Layout - Defines the imposition of the print job and the booklet process on the media/sheet, except forpositioning that compensates for finishing options, for example, Tray Alignment. Color - Color settings and graphic arts features (when turned on). This tab does not appear when you connect toa black-and-white printer. Image - All Image Quality settings supported by the connected Fiery server and printer. Finishing - Print options related only to finishing equipment on the printer, and also image shifting tocompensate for finishing options. These options override settings in Fiery server Printer Setup but can bechanged from Command WorkStation. VDP - All Variable Data Printing (VDP) settings, such as FreeForm and advanced VDP settings. Stamping - All image stamping options that add or hide/remove any image on the job. This also includeswatermark properties that define the placement and style of the watermark.Note: The Stamping tab may not be supported for all Fiery servers. Printer - Information about printer status that includes the current paper and toner levels.Note: Two-Way Communication for your printer must be turned on for the Printer tab information to be updated.

Fiery Driver for WindowsFiery Driver for Windows12Open the Fiery Printing tabYou can use the Fiery Printing tab to set Fiery server print options.1 Open the folder that lists the installed printers. (See Open the folder that lists installed printers on page 10.)2 Right-click the desired printer icon and click Printing Preferences.3 Click the Fiery Printing tab.Use Fiery Driver to set options installed on the printerTo use the print options for the printer and the Fiery server appropriately, you must configure the Fiery server fromyour computer for the options installed on the printer.Two-Way Communication, when turned on, overrides any manual settings you made to the installable options. TwoWay Communication also allows the Fiery Driver to query the printer and retrieve the options that are currentlyinstalled. The installed options are listed in the Installed Options list and the Fiery Driver settings are activated thatdepend on those options.When you configure installable options manually, you must match the actual configuration of the printer.Otherwise, the print options that appear in the Fiery Driver might not match the print options that are actuallyavailable.You can also revert to the options’ default values.Change options installed on a printer with Fiery DriverYou must use Fiery Driver to edit the installed options on the printer.Note: You must manually turn off Two-Way Communication (clear the check box) to configure installed options.Note: The User Account Control (UAC) feature is available on Windows operating systems supported by the Fieryserver. You must log on with Administrator privileges to add or change the installable options after the printer driveris installed.1 Open the folder that lists installed printers. (See Open the folder that lists installed printers on page 10.)2 For Windows computers with User Account Control, right-click the Fiery server icon, select Run asadministrator, and then select Printer properties or Properties.The User Account Control dialog box opens.Select the User that has administrator privileges, type the password, and then click OK.3 Right-click the desired printer icon, and then click Printer properties or Properties.4 Click the Accessories (or Configuration, or Installable Options) tab to verify that the option you want to use isavailable.5 To retrieve the installed options from the printer itself, select Two-Way Communication, enter the IP address orDNS name of the Fiery server connected to the printer, and then click Update.

Torevert to the installed options default settings, click Defaults.Note: Make sure that the printer actually has the option installed.7 To automatically update the driver each time it opens, select Update Fiery Driver When Opened.This avoids conflicts between the selected settings when one or more of the installed options change or becomeunavailable.8 To receive e-mail notification of any errors that occurred during printing, select Enable E-mail Notification andtype the e-mail address to send the e-mail notification.Enable E-mail Notification appears only if E-mail Service is turned on at Setup on the Fiery server.
