Ways of working with us:mitigate emissions with Woodland Carbon 790 million tonnes – the amount of carbon held in the trees and soil of UKforests and woodland. 441 million tonnes – the average UK annual carbon emission since 2010.Make strides towards sustainability by investing inour unique Woodland Carbon scheme. This voluntarymitigation programme, allows you to reduce yourcarbon footprint by locking up emissions through theplanting of trees here in the UK.Trees are a natural and effective means of mitigatingcarbon emissions. They absorb and store carbondioxide which directly contributes to climate changehelping to cleanse and purify the air. WoodlandCarbon allows our partners to mitigate theiremissions by funding tree planting here in the UK –where they are desperately needed - while facilitatingthe wider range of environmental, social and economicbenefits trees provide: Making space for wildlife Providing placesfor recreation Producing oxygen Boosting health Preventing soil erosionand wellbeing Improving water qualityGet engagedWoodland Carbon also provides an idealopportunity for staff or community engagement,allowing people to get out on the ground andcontribute to your Sustainable DevelopmentGoals by taking part in tree planting events.Woodland Carbon provides a tangible, longlasting demonstration of your commitment tothe environment for all to see.Case study: Premier PaperSince 2011, Woodland Carbon - marketed asCarbon Capture - has allowed Premier Papercustomers to mitigate the CO2 emissionsgenerated by the production, storage anddistribution of the paper they purchase. Customers pay 8.50 per tonne of paper, all ofwhich is passed on to the Woodland Trust fortree planting. Over 400 business customers engaged andmore than 678,669 raised. 187,800 trees planted to date, with 37,563tonnes of carbon captured. Woodland Trust Office Paper also developed andlaunched, with 5p donated to the Trust for everyream sold.

Ways of working with us:planting & people powerOur partners have already played a key role in helping us plant more than38 million trees across the UK since 1972. We need your help to reach our target ofhaving planted 64 million - one for every person in the country - by 2025.Planting needs people and, as well as putting trees in the ground, it’s an idealopportunity to engage with children, local communities and landowners. Thanksto our partners, more than five million children have planted a tree with us andour Free Tree Pack scheme for schools and local communities receives over 7,500applications annually.Case study: IKEAMore than a million trees have been plantedthrough our partnership with IKEA: 309 acres of new native woodland were createdthanks to a donation of 10p for every swipe of anIKEA FAMILY card. Over 100,000 IKEA customers have made a 1till-point donation to plant a tree since 2012. Over 1.7 million trees have been planted by schoolsand community groups through IKEA’s support ofour free Tree Pack scheme, with 250,000 volunteersand 500 IKEA co-workers engaged in planting. IKEA FAMILY branding on all funded Tree Packs andliterature and highlighted as key partner in all TreePack communications. 2016 media coverageof partnership equatedto 59 articles withreach of 1.9 million andadvertorial equivalentof close to 58,000.Case study: NationwideNationwide is engaging its colleagues, members andlocal communities with tree planting across the UK: Committed to planting 60,000 trees, includingone for every colleague – current and past. Will help to create new woodlands across the UK,with sites in Durham, Tring, Perth (Scotland) and theFaughan Valley in Northern Ireland. All planted byNationwide colleagues and members. Nationwide’s contribution visibly acknowledgedat each site. Ways of working with us:protection & restorationAncient woodland is the UK’s most precious natural environment. Takingcenturies to develop, it supports more life than any other habitat and cannotbe replaced once lost. Only around 2% of the UK is now covered by ancientwoodland and much of this is damaged, degraded and threatened withdestruction. Some 440 ancient woods have been lost or damaged since 1999alone. You can help us bring this irreplaceable habitat back from thebrink by supporting this work.Case study: People’s Postcode LotteryPlayers of People’s Postcode Lottery are the lead funderof our ambitious restoration project at Loch Arkaig PineForest, a magnificent site in the Scottish Highlands. Over 1.5 million raised by players for therestoration of this beautiful but degradedancient woodland, home to some of ourmost iconic wildlife including ospreys,eagles and pine martens. Media and PR coverage created over33 million opportunities for people tohear about the project and the supportof players of People’s Postcode Lottery in2016 alone. Players of People’s PostcodeLottery are also supportingour Street Trees project, whichchampions and protects the treeson our city streets.We can stand upfor UK’s trees.
