Getting StartedMixing Variegated Color Shades For a natural appearance you will need to mixcolor shades and shingle sizes.Place equal amounts shingles and shingle sizesfrom each shade into a mixing box/bin in anupright position so the installer will be able toview the different widths.Shuffle/Mix the shingles in the container keepingthem upright.Note: Once the shingles are mixed only payattention to widths. This will speed upinstallation and be less inclined to have patterns

Mixing Shades Pull an even mix of shades from boxes and place mixin a bin Focus only on sizes after mixing – let the shades berandom

Installation Features

InstallationInstalling the Starter Course Create a level reference line around thehouse to determine the low point ofyour sheathing. The bottom of the starter panels mustextend at least 1/2” past the sheathingto allow for proper drainage. Use full shingles and apply with 2fasteners in each. Work across the wall varying shinglewidths & shades as you go, leaving ¼”gap between panels

Installation Cont. Installing the First Course Use the off set line ½” below the top of thestarter panel to align the top of your 1stCourseAttach with 2 Fasteners each in the staplezoneVary panel widths and shades as you moveacross the wall, leaving ¼” gap betweenpanelsBe sure to overlap panels a minimum of 1 ½”to avoid exposing staples (vertical lines attop of panel will help guide you) Note: The bottom of the lowest coursemust allow a minimum spacing of 1" fromdecks, patios, rooflines and other hardsurfaces. Consult local building codes forminimum spacing from grade.½”

Remaining Courses Install remaining courses in a single layer according to the 5” exposure by aligning thehash marks on the shingle you are installing with the top of the previous course.Note: Courses can be adjusted /- ¼” to accommodate trim heights) Snapping Chalk lines or use of a straight edge can help keep courses straight and level Vary shingle shades and widths as you move across the wall Be sure to maintain proper keyway spacing and panel overlaps

Installing Mitered Corners

Installing Mitered CornersCreating the Offset Cut shingle widths to size usingthe of the rib on the back side ofthe corner. Cut along the outeredge leaving the rib intact. This may take several passeswith the a utility knife to cutcompletely through.Do not score and snap Cut at the different rib locationsto create the recommendedstagger.Pro Tip: A guillotine shear makes foreasy accurate cutting

Individual 5" Sawmill Shingle CornerBackside Install– Follow recommended pattern for 9custom sizes– Fasten with stainless steel screws Design– The corner is designed to betrimmable– Each corner can be custom cut into9 different sizes– Each side of the shingle can be cutto 3”, 4.5” or 6”6” 4.5” 3”3” 4.5” 6”Corner Pattern

Tips for better Efficiency EZ ShearThe use of a shear type cutter will eliminate time spentsetting up heavy saws and electric cords, also reducing therisk of injuries caused by high speed blades. They make foreasy, accurate cutting.

Tips for better EfficiencyLedger BoardsLedger boards can be temporarily fastened tothe wall and used to keep shingles straight, even and level. There are different ways we canuse them. Ledger above: can be positioned where thetop of the shingle should land. Shingles willbe butted up to it and fastened individually.Note: We can use this method because CedarImpression Individual 5” Shingles are uniform in size.

Tips for better Efficiency Hanging Ledgers: can be used in a way that theapplicator can set the shingles in place, then view forsatisfaction before fastening.Note: Be sure to tape holes created by temporary ledger fasteners
