Page ThreeSS. Cyril & Methodius Parish“United in Faith”From the Pastor’s DeskWe come into this world with nothing atall. Perhaps family members and friendspurchased some diapers, blankets andclothes. We allow ourselves to be takencare of. For quite some time, we're notconcerned with what we need. Our mother or father is in charge of food, diapers, sunscreen, tissues and anything else we might need. When we go somewhere, our only responsibility is to getinto the car. We know we are special. Everybody treatsus that way. We're content with all the attention we get.As we grow a bit older, we start thinking more about"things." We might have a friend who has a toy or gamewe'd like to have. We might beg and beg for it. We mightbecome protective of our things. If someone else wouldtouch them or play with them, they might never be thesame. There are certain things we consider "ours." Eventhough we might not always remember to bring them infrom outside or bring them home with us they're "our"possessions. When we get older yet, we start to get more and moreresponsible. We begin to worry about how we look andhow we appear to others. We might spend a long time infront of the mirror being sure we are "just right" beforeanybody else is allowed to see us. Going somewhere nowbecomes quite complicated. We might even need a list inorder to remember all the things we perceive we need, even for a short time away from home. The more time and energy we spend accumulatingthings, the less we have to devote to things that reallymatter in life. With good intentions, we can set out toprovide the best for our families. We can work so hardand long that we don't have time to enjoy being withthem. We might even see our family torn apart. We canbecome so preoccupied with what we have, what we needand what we will need, that we miss how nice life couldbe right now if we simply focused on the things thatmatter, on the things that will last. This week, consider the things that will last forever. Will it do a lot of good for us to leave a great deal ofmoney to our loved ones, if we have sacrificed spendingtime with them? Will it be valuable to gain titles andhigher paychecks? Will it be valuable for us to work sohard that we don't have time for Church, for God, for ourhusband or wife, or for our children? In my 12 years ofJuly 11, 2021priesthood, I've not yet heard a dying person expressregret that they hadn't worked enough hours oraccumulated enough things. Their focus is on God, love, family and friends.God has a dream for us. That dream can be realizedonly when we stay close to God and seek to do what Godwould have us do, when God would have us do it, in theway God would have it done. God has called us to wearthe world like a loose garment, focusing on the thingsthat matter. That's how we'll carry on the work of Jesus. Our faith life can lead us to a healthy life each day as wedevote time and energy to God, Church, family andfriends. If we do things God's way, we can leave awonderful legacy for our children. And this is what ourlife is about. And now a few things I want you to know: Sign up for Perpetual Adoration in the Divine MercyChapel. There are still openings to offer an hour ofyour time to Jesus. Page ElevenSS. Cyril & Methodius Parish“United in Faith”July 11, 2021Drodzy Parafianie, centrum jest Bóg, miłość, rodzina i przyjaciele.Przychodzimy na ten świat z niczym.Prawdopodobnie rodzina i przyjacielezakupili jakieś pieluchy, kocyki i troszkęubranek. I takie znaczeniepowinno mieć życie. Zaczynamy o niąbłagać i prosić. Mamy nadal wolne miejsca. We follow the cults of St. Cyril and Methodius in the oldest wall painting in Ohrid and in Prespa region. The oldest depiction of St. Cyril in wall painting has been identified in the Church of St. Sophia, whose frescoes date from the time of Archbishop Leo (1037-1056). Next to St. Cyril can be seen the figure of St. Clement of Ohrid.
