Installation InstructionsThese Window Opening Control Devices (WOCDs) work with single-hungwindows and sliding windows with one operational and one stationary sash inthe configurations of either XO or OX. These devices are not meant for slidingwindows with two operational (XX) sash.The Face Mount WOCD works with windows without an extension jamb ordrywall channel that have a minimum 5/8" clearance on the frame after thewindow is finished.The Side Mount WOCD works with windows with an extension jamb, drywallchannel and less than 5/8" clearance on the frame after the window isfinished.These instructions show images of a single-hung window installation unlessotherwise noted.Project Requirements: Consult building and fire codes for your jurisdiction before installingWindow Opening Control Device(s). Read guide from beginning to end before starting installation. Readall warnings and cautions during installation. Failure to follow theseinstructions may result in the Window Opening Control Device beingineffective in preventing falls through an open window. Properly maintain Window Opening Control Devices and verify correctWindow Opening Control Device operation on a monthly basis. WindowOpening Control Devices should automatically re-engage when closingwindow sash. After activation of the Window Opening Control Device,check to ensure that the clear opening is less than 4 inches. Failure to do so mayresult in accidental windowfalls.Less than 4"so that arigid spherecannot passthrough Young children may fall outof the window if the openingcontrol device is not installedcorrectly. Install the WindowOpening Control Device sothat a rigid 4.0 inch diametersphere does not pass throughany space in the windowopening after the WindowOpening Control Device is inplace. Window Opening Control Deviceis designed to protect againstaccidental window falls bychildren five years and younger. Window Opening ControlDevice is not a substitute forcareful supervision of all youngchildren. Keep Window Opening ControlDevice engaged unless neededfor use in an emergency.Blocks Escape in Fire andEmergency Unless Released Follow instructions to properlyoperate the Window OpeningControl Device to openwindow. Make sure the WindowOpening Control Device issecurely attached to thewindow as directed. Make sure that the windowframe is in good condition.No Window Rescue Above75 Feet (6th Floor) Fire rescue ladder may notreach beyond 75 feet (6thfloor). Do not rely on being rescuedfrom windows above 75 feet(6th floor). Follow buildingescape plan.This window opening control deviceis not a security device that providesintrusion protection.Use caution when working atelevated heights and around unitopenings. Follow manufacturers’instructions for ladders and/orscaffolding. Failure to do so mayresult in injury or death.Follow manufacturers’ instructionsfor hand or power tools. Alwayswear safety glasses. Installation InstructionsStep 7Face MountChoose spacerquantity.Determine the numberof spacers required forthe WOCD by holding thedisengaged device againstthe window and testing theoperation of the sash.Lift or slide sash to ensurethe window sash clears thedevice with the least amountof space between the sashand the WOCD.
