GEAIntroduction·Aseptic Valve TechnologySolutions for every taskThe three valve lines distinguish themselves via the hermeticsealing concept. The Aseptomag valve line is based on stainlesssteel bellows technology, whereas the D-tec valve line usesstem diaphragm technology to hermetically seal the sterileprocess pipe against the atmosphere. Both valve lines are mainlyused for dairy, beverage and food applications. The VESTA valve line bases on PTFE bellows technology and is a trueasset for applications in the pharmaceutical, biotech andcosmetics industry.GEA VESTA Tank bottom valveGEA Aseptomag Leakage valveGEA VESTA Shut-off valveGEA Aseptomag Double-chamber valve5

GEA8·IntroductionGEA VESTA Modular StructurePTFE bellow as key elementValve housingKey element of VESTA Sterile valves is a single-piece PTFEbellow made of the material TFM 1705. Adding to its excellentchemical resistance against almost all media, TFM 1705 alsocomplies with all standards relevant for the pharmaceuticalindustry, such as e.g. FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 and USP class VI.The high-value surface finish (R a 0.8 μm), the seamless andhermetic sealing as well as the CIP/SIP optimized design areother characteristic features. The patented bellow sealingsystem safely separates the product-wetted area from theatmosphere in all process steps and furthermore seals thevalve seat. The housings for VESTA Sterile valves are made of material1.4435 / AISI 316 L, they come with a material certificateaccording to EN10204/3.1 by default and are labeled accordingto explanation note AD A4. The pipe connections enableorbital welding with closed orbital cartridge systems. Thedifferent valve types offer various housing options by default, and thanks to the modular valve structure, customizedhousing solutions are possible.Internal assemblyValve housing type HTACharacteristics of the patentedbellow sealing system21435Compensation of forces from product overpressure by metallic thrust collar12Protection provided by circlip under vacuum conditions3 Constant contact pressure due to elastomere o-ring4 5Defined pre-load due to metallic stop Sealing of housing achieved by thin-walled PTFE sealing lip

GEAIntroductionGEA VESTA Modular StructurePneumatic actuators made of plasticand stainless steelFor automated applications the VESTA Valve line offerspneumatic actuators made of plastic. The actuation system ismade of high-performance plastic PPS. This plastic materialoffers a high chemical resistance, it withstands temperatures upto 180 C, has good mechanical properties and is furthermoreresistant to aging. Alternatively, VESTA Sterile valves canalso be equipped with pneumatic actuators made of stainlesssteel. These actuators offer the same design characteristics asactuators made of plastic and are furthermore autoclavable.·AccessoriesWith two types of stroke limiters (open or close) and an openfeedback unit for external proximity switches for the automatedsurveillance of the valve position, the VESTA Valve line offersuseful options for pneumatic actuators. Further options forthe actuator as well as for enhanced process integration canbe found in the sections “Options” respectively “Control andfeedback systems”.Pneumatic actuators are maintainable, and thanks to theirintelligent modular structure no danger from the release ofspring forces is present. The fail-safe position is reversible andthe modification can be easily executed on-site. Pneumaticactuators of the VESTA Valve line provide integrated fittingsfor air hoses Ø 6 1 mm / ¼" and a visual valve status indicator.A bore hole in the lantern area enables the safe visual detectionof leakages.Open feedback unit forpneumatic actuatorPneumatic actuators made ofplastic and stainless steelStroke limiter forpneumatic actuator9

GEA10·IntroductionGEA VESTA Modular StructureControl and feedback systemsManual actuatorsThe T.VIS V-1/V-20 has been specifically developedfor VESTA Sterile valves and can be either executed asposition indicator or control top. The automated end positionprogramming can be achieved within seconds by using thebuttons or the integrated programming input. The T.VIS P-1/P-20 is a compact positioner for pneumatic process valves.By defining a setpoint (4–20 mA) the process valve can be setto any position. The position is monitored via a measuringsystem with a resolution of 0.01 mm and controlled by twointegrated solenoid valves. VESTA Sterile valves in largernominal diameters can be optionally equipped with amanual T.VIS M-15 or an automated T.VIS A-15.VESTA Sterile valves can also be equipped with manualactuators, based on a particularly simple technical concept. An integrated spring package provides a defined pressure atthe PTFE bellow in the closed position and avoids unintendeddeformation of the bellow. The spring force only appearsshortly before reaching the fully closed position, and inintermediate positions manually actuated valves can beoperated with minimum effort. Also, changes in the seat areaof the bellow due to ingress of process conditions have noimpact on the leak-thightness: the spring automatically adjuststhe system to the new conditions. Furthermore, VESTA Sterile valves with a manual actuator offer the possibilityof a lead sealing and can furthermore be equipped with aLOTO safety device if needed.VESTA Sterile valve withmanual actuatorT.VIS V-1position indicatorT.VIS V-1control topT.VIS P-1positioner

GEA20·VESTA Valve TypesTank Bottom ValvesVESTA Tank Bottom valvesInternal assemblyVESTA Tank Bottom valves are used for the controlled shut-offof liquid media at vessels. The positioning primarily takes placeat the lowest point of a vessel, although the valve is alsofully drainable when installed horizontally. It is characterizedby its flush-mounted design, eliminating the possibility ofany sump. The dead-space-free design offers the completeemptying of the vessel and optimum CIP/SIP cleaning. The robust design of the housing (respectively the housingconnection flange) enables the seamless integration intoprocesses. Due to its remarkably compact design, VESTA Tank Bottom valves can also be used in tight space conditions.PTFE bellows for VESTA Tank Bottom valves are executedwith a flat seat area for all valve sizes. They distinguishthemselves from other VESTA Valve types by their extendedcone in the seat area.ActuatorThe actuator can be executed pneumatically or manually. The manual version is made of plastic in all cases. Pneumaticactuators are available in plastic or stainless steel, and thefail-safe (normally close or normally open) position can beeasily reversed.Control and feedback systemPneumatic actuators include a visual valve status indicatorby default. Alternatively, visual indicators can be replacedby an open feedback unit or, by using the adequate adaptorplate, with a T.VIS control and feedback system in variousexecutions.VESTA Tank Bottom valvewith one-piece housingVESTA Tank Bottom valvewith loose flangeHousing connection flange(Only available for type H A/T/F)HousingHousings for VESTA Tank Bottom valves are available withtwo or three process connections. The housings are producedfrom one solid piece of stainless steel. The two options availableare one-piece housing and flange combined or housing withloose flange. The loose flange execution consists of two partswhich are connected to each other with four screws, and theseare safely sealed with an additional o-ring.

GEAVESTA Valve TypesTank Bottom ValvesVESTA Tank Bottom valves withCIP/SIP side valveVESTA Tank Bottom valves can be executed with an additionalside valve. This option impresses with its compact design andideal cleanability, which significantly contributes to processoptimization. The side valve can be used for CIP/SIP supply aswell as for drainage.·21Internal assemblyThe PTFE bellow for the side valve is always executed with aflat seat area, and due to the housing depth the seat area hasan extended cone. In total, the bellow is therefore slightlylonger than bellows for VESTA Shut-off valves and valveblocks.Actuator and feedback systemAll options of the VESTA Valve line in terms of actuation andcontrol are also available for the side valve. Therefore, VESTA Tank Bottom valves with a side valve can ideally be adapted toprocess conditions.VESTA Tank Bottom valvewith CIP/SIP side valveHousing2The valve seat of the side valve is directly integrated into theside wall of the tank bottom housing.
