E L C A D U L T B R O C H U R E T E S T P R E P A R A T I O N CAMBRIDGE P R E PA R AT I O N COURSE FACTFILE Level requirements: Intermediate to advanced (FCE), advanced (CAE) Class size: Average 8 students Maximum 12 students Number of lessons (per week): 30 lessons (LA, BOS, SB) 20 lessons (SB, summer only) Lesson duration: 50 minutes Age: Minimum of 17 years old, No maximum age requirement Start dates: Set start dates Cambridge Preparation Courses prepare students to pass either the Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) or the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE). Duration: 6, 8,10 and 11 weeks, exam week immediately following the course end The FCE is the most widely recognized proof of language ability at the upper intermediate level. The CAE also has tremendous popularity as an assessment of advanced abilities in English. Test: ELC is an authorized open test site for FCE and CAE. Students in the FCE and CAE Preparation Courses focus on not only passing the final examination, but also on improving their general accuracy and fluency in English. These are academically rigorous courses, limited to FCE and CAE students who will take the exam at its conclusion. All students must successfully pass a pre-test in order to participate in these courses.
