1 Getting startediGO Navigation app is optimised for in-car or pedestrian use. You can use it easily by tappingthe screen buttons and the map with your fingertips.Free Map updatesYou can download updated maps for your navigation system for free throughout the lifetime ofthe product.1.1 Initial set-upWhen using the navigation software for the first time, an initial set-up process startsautomatically.1.You are now asked whether you allow the software to collect usage information andGPS logs that may be used for improving the application and the quality of maps. Tapto allow the anonymous statistics or disable this function. Lateryou can turn them on or off individually in Usage report settings (page 99).to continue.2.The Configuration Wizard starts. Tap3.Select the language and speaker used for voice guidance messages. Later you canchange it in Regional settings (page 93). Tap5to continue.

4.If needed, modify the time format and unit settings. Later you can change them inRegional settings (page 98). Tap5.to continue.If needed, modify the default route planning options. To get the maps that you are entitled to download for free, or topurchase further content, tap. This will take you to the in-appShop. For instructions on using the Shop, continue with the next chapter in this guide.1.2 Downloading new maps and other contentPerform the following steps to download free or pay maps or other navigation-related contentto your phone, including: New map packages Map updates Latest map guarantee Online service subscriptions Places of interest, 3D buildings, and other extras.1.In the Navigation menu, tapand.7

5.To complete the installation, the application has to be restarted. Tapin the message box.You can delete a map from your device if are not going to use it for a while and wantto free up some space. Deleted maps can be downloaded again from the Shop anytime. To delete an installed map, tap its name in the Shop, then select. Alternatively, to delete an entire package in the Shop, do asTip!follows: tap , then, then again, tap and finally, tap.1.3 Screen controlsThe following sections describe the functionality and use of buttons, sliders, and other screencontrols in iGO Navigation app.1.3.1 Using the buttons and other controlsTo operate iGO Navigation app, tap the buttons on the touch screen.TypeExampleDescriptionFunctionButtonOpens a new screen whereyou can set a parameter.Tap it once.Buttonwith valueDisplays the current value ofa field or setting where thevalue can be changed. Depending on thespeed of sliding, the listscrolls fast or slow, only abit or till the end.SwitchShows whether a feature isenabled when there are onlytwo choices.Tap it to turn the switch onor off.SliderWhen a feature can be setto different values in arange, iGO Navigation appshows an indicator on agauge that displays andsets the value.Drag the handle to movethe slider to its newposition.VirtualkeyboardUsed to enter text andnumbers.10Tap the slider where youwant the handle toappear.Each key is a touchscreen button.

The Navigation menu may contain several menu items on one or more pages.You need to confirm selections or changes only if the application needs to be restarted, if itneeds to perform a major reconfiguration, or if you are about to lose some of your data orsettings. Otherwise, iGO Navigation app saves your selections and applies the new settingswithout confirmation as soon as you use the controls.1.3.2 Using the cursorYou can select a map location in the following ways: By tapping the map when navigating By tapping the map when you are asked to confirm the destination at the end of asearch.When a map location is selected, the cursor (map.) appears at the selected point on theThe location of the cursor can be used as the destination of the route or a new Alert Point.You can also search for Places around it or add this location to your saved locations.You can also select some of the objects on the map. If you tap the map at the icon of a Placeor traffic event, the object is selected, and you can get information about this object or use itas a route point.1.3.3 Using the keyboardYou can type with your fingertips on the screen keyboards and you can switch betweenvarious keyboard layouts, for example English, Greek or numerical. Only those keyboardbuttons are active that can be used to type a name that is available on the map. The otherkeys are greyed out.ActionSwitching to anotherkeyboard layout, forexample from an Englishkeyboard to a GreekkeyboardFunctionTapand select the new keyboard layout from the list.11

Correcting your entry on thekeyboardTapto remove the unnecessary character(s).Tap and hold the button to delete several characters or theentire input string.Entering a space, forexample between a firstname and a family name orin multi-word street namesEntering upper and lowercase lettersTap thescreen.button at the bottom centre of theBy default, when entering a text, the first character appears inupper case while the rest of the text is in lower case. 1.3.4 Using touch gesturesYou usually need to tap the screen only once. However, some useful features can beaccessed with other gestures. See the table below.ActionTapping andholding thescreenFunctionTap and keep pressing the following buttons to reach extra functions: Tap and hold the following button on list and menu screens toshow the Navigation view: .Tap and hold any of the following buttons on the Navigation view torotate, tilt, or scale the map continuously:, ,Using pinchzoom,,.Tap and hold the following button on keyboard screens to quicklydelete several characters:Dragging,.Drag the screen in the following cases: To move the handle on a slider. To scroll a list: grab the list anywhere and slide your finger up ordown. Depending on the speed of the sliding, the list scrolls fasteror slower, only a bit or till the end. To move the map in map browsing mode: grab the map, and moveit in the desired direction.Use pinch zoom on the Navigation view to zoom in and out by moving twofingers in a pinch gesture.13

1.3.5 Manipulating the mapIf you tap the map anywhere during navigation, the map stops following the current position(the blue arrow arrow is not locked in a fix position on the screen anymore) and controlbuttons appear to help you modify the map view.You can perform the following actions on the map:ActionCheckinglocationinformationButton(s)No buttonsFunctionThe top section of the Navigation view showsinformation about the selected point (the cursor).Moving themap bydraggingZooming inand outNo buttons,Move the map in any direction: tap and hold themap and move your finger towards the direction youwant to move the map.Change how much of the map is displayed on thescreen.iGO Navigation app uses maps that let you examinethe locations at various zoom levels, always withoptimised content. It always displays street namesand other text with the same font size, neverupside-down, and you only see the streets andobjects that you need.Map scaling has a limit in 3D map view mode. If youzoom out further, the map switches to 2D viewmode.Tap once to modify the view in a large step, or tapand hold the button to modify it continuously andsmoothly.Tilting up anddown,Change the vertical view angle of the map in 3Dmode.Tap once to modify the view in a large step, or tapand hold the button to modify it continuously andsmoothly.14

Theroute is automatically calculated.15

1.4 Navigation viewThe navigation view is the main screen of iGO Navigation app that shows the planned routeon a map. iGO Navigation app works with digital maps which are not simply the computerisedversions of traditional paper maps. Similarly to paper road maps, the 2D mode of digital mapsshows you streets and roads. Elevation is also illustrated in colour.The navigation view displays the following screen buttons, data fields, and route informationon the map during navigation:Note! Some buttons, fields, or icons may not be available in your product version.16

Seepage 20.6Second nextturn previewIt shows the type of the second next manoeuvre if it is near thefirst one. See page 20.7Next streetIt displays the name of the next street. See page 20.5If you have not selected a route destination, you can seenearby house numbers, if they are available.8ParkingarounddestinationIt appears near the destination. By tapping it, you can checkthe available parking facilities around your destination. Seepage 83.9DestinationmenuIt appears near the destination. By tapping it, you can checkthe trip summary, find Places around your final destination,save the current location, switch to pedestrian navigation orsuspend the navigation.10TrafficIt shows traffic-related information. See page 63.11LaneinformationOn multi-lane roads, it shows the lanes ahead and theirdirections. The highlighted arrows represent the lanes anddirection you need to take. See page 22.17

12Alert pointwarningIt shows the type of the alert points when approaching a roadsafety camera or other Alert Points like school zones orrailroad crossings. You must make sure that using this featureis legal in the country where you intend to use it. See page 94.13Speed limitwarningIt shows the current speed limit of the road. See page 94.15SignpostIt shows the available destinations and the road numbers. Seepage 22.16MotorwayservicesBy tapping it, you can check the details of the next few servicestations (petrol stations, restaurants) when travelling on amotorway. See page 25.18NavigationmenuBy tapping it, you can open the Navigation menu, where youcan reach other parts of iGO Navigation app.19Street name203D objectsIt shows the current street name. By tapping it, you can openthe Where Am I screen. See page 85.They display hills, mountains, roads, landmarks, and buildingsin 3D.If you are approaching a motorway exit or a complex intersection and the needed informationexists, the map is replaced with a 3D view of the junction. See page 23.18

When entering a tunnel, the map is replaced with a generic tunnel image. See page 24.1.4.1 Streets and roadsiGO Navigation app shows the streets similarly to paper road maps. Their width and colourscorrespond to their importance; you can easily tell a motorway from a small street.1.4.2 GPS position markersWhen your GPS position is available, iGO Navigation app marks your current position. Bydefault, this marker is a blue arrow arrow. The dot near the arrow shows the GPS position asperceived by the GPS receiver.The exact location of the current position marker depends on the vehicle type used for routecalculation. It can be set inRoute preferences (page 1). If you choose pedestrian navigation, the current position marker is at your exact GPSposition. The direction of the icon shows your current heading. In all other cases, the position marker may not show your exact GPS position andheading. If roads are near, the GPS position is locked on the road and aligned to thenearest road to suppress GPS position errors, and the direction of the icon is aligned tothe direction of the road.19

1.4.3 Turn preview and next streetWhen navigating a route, the top section of the Navigation view shows information about thenext route event (manoeuvre) and the next street or the next town.There is a field in the top left corner displaying the next manoeuvre. Both the type of themanoeuvre (turn, roundabout, exiting motorway, and so on) and its distance from the currentposition are displayed.A smaller icon shows the type of the second next manoeuvre if it is near the first one.Otherwise, only the next manoeuvre is displayed. Tap the icon of the actual manoeuvre toopen the Itinerary screen.1.4.4 The planned routeThe planned route is the currently navigated route. Whenever the destination is set, the routeis active until you delete it, reach your destination or suspend navigation. iGO Navigation appdisplays the route in the following ways:SymbolNameCurrent GPSpositionand starting t is your current position displayed on the map. In pedestrian mode it is the GPS position. If a vehicle is selected for route calculation androads are near, the arrow jumps to the nearest road. Normally, if GPS position is available, the routestarts from the current position. If there is no validGPS position, iGO Navigation app uses the lastknown position as the starting point.It is an intermediate destination of the route beforereaching the final destination.20

Destination (endpoint)It is the final destination of the route.Route colourThe route always stands out with its colour on the map,both in daytime and night colour modes.Streets and roadsthat are excludedfrom the navigationYou can choose whether you want to use or avoid certainroad types (page 88).
