SLCC Apprenticeship Plumber Independent—Licensure InformationUpdated 10/21/2021The SLCC Apprenticeship Plumber Independent program and passing the Utah licensure exams are important steps forpreparing for professional licensure as a Journeyman Plumber in Utah. The Utah Division of Occupational andProfessional Licensing (DOPL) provides additional information about licensure in Utah on the Journeyman Plumberlicensure portal. To be eligible for licensure in Utah, an apprentice must complete 576 minimum hours of relatedinstruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT).This document represents a good faith effort to describe licensure requirements in other states. Please recognize thatthere may be additional requirements for licensure not outlined in this document. Licensure and employmentrequirements vary by state, agency, and organization. In additional to the requirements listed below, applicants may beasked to submit criminal background checks, pay licensure fees or other certification fees, abide by codes of conduct, orother requirements not outlined in this document. We recommend that students who are planning to move out of Utahresearch licensure requirements in other states.Once an applicant earns a Journeyman Plumber license in Utah, the applicant may be eligible for licensure reciprocity ina few other states.
