IntroductionThe Career Development Office surveyed each of the 937 members of the May 2012graduating class. Seventy-five percent college-wide response was realized from thesurvey. The Alfred State Department of Technology Services generated the statisticalinformation utilized in the preparation of this report in May 2013.Highlights 64 percent of the graduates were employed after graduation. 91 percent of the employed graduates were employed in jobs related to theirfield of study at Alfred State. 35 percent of the graduates transferred to other colleges and universities.The 2012 Employment and Transfer Report is designed to provide the readerreference to employment and transfer data by individual program. Data presentedin this report is organized alphabetically. Each program contains employment andtransfer statistics for the last three years. Data presented in this report fall withinthe following guidelines: Graduates’ employment status: Number receiving degrees, number respondingto survey, number and percentage employed (military included in this category),number and percent employed in field, number and percentage transferring,number and percentage available for employment, and number and percentagenot looking for employment. Architectural Technology (BS)Four-Year ProgramCode 640Program DescriptionThe architectural technology (BS) program offers graduates a comprehensive architecturaleducation combining an understanding of the philosophy of building design with anapplied technical knowledge of construction systems and materials acquired in atechnically-oriented studio structure. A variety of graphic tools and techniques is exploredin the studios including freehand drawing, computer-aided drafting, physical models,virtual computer models, and computer imaging. A portfolio review is required of allstudents before entering the junior-level studio course. Graduates may go directly intothe work force or transfer into a graduate program leading to a master of architecturedegree. Vocational Career ProgramAutomotive Service Technician (AOS)Code 910Program DescriptionThe automotive service technician program includes 1,800 hours of practical andclassroom training in general automotive repair geared to automotive dealership andindependent garage practice. The typical school day consists of one-and-one-halfhours of classroom lecture and four-and-one-half hours of laboratory experience on alltypes of automobiles, including domestic, imported, gasoline, and diesel.
