Here are some of the procedures and updates.Hygiene and CleanlinessAdequate personnel are needed to clean the building. All employees and students should wash or sanitize their hands as appropriate.Hand sanitizers and/or wipes should be readily available in all classrooms and commonareas.Areas of the school where illnesses are commonly spread, should consider beingcleaned between the beginning of the day and lunchtime, then again after theschool day is completed.Consider cleaning high touch areas at least two times a day - railings/door knobs/etc.Classroom teachers should consider evaluating the way students are sent to therestroom to limit the number of people in the small space at once. Each school building should be deep cleaned once a week. Schools may considerusing a fog chemical that is safe for schools to accomplish this deep clean.Students need to be instructed that they should do their best to always cough orsneeze into a tissue (discarded) or their elbow. At all times, this needs to be modeledwell by school employees.Instruct students on proper hygiene of blowing nose or coughing. The student shoulddiscard the used tissue and wash or sanitize their hands. Adults working in the schoolmust model this practice.Administrators should post appropriate sanitary methods for the students to have avisual reference on how to stop the spread of germs.

Based on updated data from the CDC and DPI, the following guidelines are recommendedfor schools:A student or employee who is diagnosed with COVID-19 must follow procedures as outlinedby their county health department. If there are no county health procedures in place, thefollowing guidance should be followed:If a staff or student is not vaccinated and tested positive for COVID or was exposed tosomeone who tested positive for COVID, and the staff or student has NOT HAD COVIDwithin the past 90 days, the staff or student should quarantine for a minimum of 10days. The result may be shortened to 7 days if the staff or student receives a negativeCOVID test result. If a staff or student is not vaccinated and was exposed to someone who tested positivefor COVID, and the staff or student HAS HAD COVID within the past 90 days, the staff orstudent do not need to quarantine. If a staff or student is vaccinated against COVID they do not have to quarantine, butshould get a COVID test within 3-5 days or exposure.MasksFace masks are required on public school buses. The use of masks are at the discretion of the school.DPI and the CDC recommend that all students, teachers, and staff, regardless ofvaccination status, wear face masks at school.Schools may consider in areas where there is student density and close contact inexcess of 15 minutes that masks covering the nose and mouth be worn by adults andstudents. The Office of Catholic Schools will require masks to be worn if a school has over 10% ofthe total student body with a positive COVID 19 test. Masks will continue to be requireduntil the school achieves an infection rate of less than 5%.If the COVID rate in your county is at Moderately High or greater, visitors and guestsshould not be allowed in your school. This includes volunteers. When the county rate isat Moderate or lower, visitors, volunteers and guests may return.Schools are not required to take temperatures or ask health related questions for students asthey enter the school building. Schools should consider implementing screening of students ifCOVID levels at the county level are in the High category. It is the responsibility of the parent (guardian) to make certain a child is healthy and able toattend school. Parents should send their child to school if they have answered NO to all ofthe following questions:Have you been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?Have you had a fever in the last 48 hours?Have you had a new loss of taste or smell?Have you had muscle pain or chills?Have you had a new headache?Have you had nausea, vomiting or diarrhea?Knights of ColumbusKnights of Columbus meets the first Tuesday of the month in the church basement from 6-9p.m.Service and charity are at the heart of the Knights.
