BY MICHAEL PARFITTCOLORADO FLAG FOOTBALL CORNERPRO DIVISIONWEEK 4 GAME 1MILE HIGH BUILT 20 COLORADO MENACE 13The leader in the Clubhouse for the Atlas award, Artie Barcelo added two more passing touchdowns tohelp get the win against Colorado Menace. Artie didn't have as gaudy of numbers that we are used tobut he still raked up 156 yards rushing. With the 20 to 13 win, Mile High Built is sitting pretty with a 3and 1 record. There game this week is extremely important and could determine a tie breaker betweenThe Bros and MHB. We did see some moves in the right direction for Menace as Trevor Okamoto threwfor 221 yards and 2 touchdowns. He still had an interception that Artie Barcelo took back for atouchdown. Menace will need to continue to make strides as they will face the Rockers Sunday. DonovanHaynes still has the sack lead at 7 even though he couldn't quite get any in week 4. Menace will need tostack up the wins and get some help in order to make the playoffs this season. A win this Sunday will lock up a playoffspot for CTS. Deuce Richardson tossed two touchdowns, one to Mitch Colin and one to Teddy Colbert.With those two TDs, Deuce's total becomes 11 passing TDs to only 2 interceptions. On defense, multipleguys were balling out for CTS. Getting interceptions were Jason Davis and Mitch Colin with Mitch takinghis back for a TD. Piling up the sacks were Anthony Clayton, Andrew Gibson and Scott O'Hara. Justridiculous defense from CTS, who is leading the league in sacks (12), interceptions (13), and pix six's (4).The Goats once again had Anthony Rankin at QB with Matt Keeling being out of town. Honestly theGoats have a more fluid offense with Rankin in at QB. Rankin did throw one touchdown to Eric Foxworthbut the Goats couldn't get much else going. The Goats are more than likely going to miss out on theplayoffs and a loss this Sunday to the Bros would solidify that. BY MICHAEL PARFITTCOLORADO FLAG FOOTBALL CORNERPRO DIVISIONWEEK 4 GAME 3COLORADO HUSKERS 32 NOCO BULLS 06In the most shocking game of the week, the Huskers came out and beat the NoCo Bulls like a red headedstep child, putting up 32 points on a Mike Timms-less Bulls defense. Julian Banks was efficient whilethrowing for 4 touchdowns and brings his league lead to 13 passing touchdowns. Paul Bailey was on thereceiving end of two of those TDS. The Huskers defense was at full strength on the day and it was fullyapparent with two interceptions and two sacks. For NoCo, David Knighton was not as stellar as he hasbeen throughout the season. He did connect on a deep pass for a touchdown to CJ Lovett. The absenceof Mike Timms was huge but the Bulls will need to find other ways to replace him since he won't be ableto play till the playoffs. Even with Timms out, the Bulls are still talent laden. They’ll look to get theirfourth win of the season this Sunday against the Goats. I still predict a win for the Bulls but it might becloser than some think. For the Huskers they have a big match up against CTS. That game won’t knockthe Huskers out of the playoffs, should they lose, but it will hurt their chances. The score is littlemore than how most of the game was. At half the Bros had a 18 to 7 lead but then the flood gatesopened in the second. Donell Wells torched the Rockers defense for 5 passing touchdowns and 2 rushingtouchdowns. Greg Jackson tallied 3 sacks on the day to help earn him the defensive MVP of the week.DaVaughn Thornton was credited with 5 receptions for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Bros will takethat athletic ability up against Mile High Built. That will definitely be an interesting game to watch exceptit starts at 8am. The Rockers made some strides in improvement like scoring in the first half for the firsttime this season. Pat Yanda continues to distribute the ball fairly evenly to his WR as three guys had 5receptions. This Rockers team is playing timid at times and teams are taking full advantage. Swat held a 13 to 7 lead up untillate in the second half. That score did not hold up as the Oilers tied it by scoring on a fourth down jumpball from inside the 10 yard line. The Oilers took the lead after getting the extra point. Swat would getthe ball back with around 30 seconds left in the game. They ended up completing a 50 yard pass at the18 second mark getting them in prime position to possibly score. The plays that followed left everyonewatching baffled. Swat called a double pass that turned into a throwback to the QB that only gained(maybe) a couple of yards. Then with the last play of the game a short quick pass that the WR tried topitch but it ended up being an illegal forward pass to end the game. With this win the Oilers have almostsecured a playoff spot. They'll have another tough test against a fellow unbeaten in the Lightning thisweekend. That is the game of the week as it could be the game that decides the #1 seed. The game startedout with the Eagles getting on the board first but they didn't do anything else till the very end of thegame. The Mustangs went on to score 27 unanswered points. The QB protection for the Mustangs stilllooks like a glaring weakness but the defense is the strength for this team. The Eagles dearth of athletesis a huge reason why they are 0 and 4. They have put up a fight in every game and might just get win #1this Sunday when they face the Sharks. The lack of players doesn't help as these guys are gassed evenwhen they are in the game. With the lack of flag knowledge and a little bit of disorganization from theSharks, the Eagles stand a good chance especially with Robbie's ability to mask some disadvantages. Asfor the Mustangs they sit in a tie with four others teams at 2 and 2 which makes their game against FOEhuge. BY MICHAEL PARFITTCOLORADO FLAG FOOTBALL CORNERCOMPETITIVE DIVISIONWEEK 4 GAME 7DENVER LIGHTNING 49 OLD SCHOOL 13The Lightning have added another blowout to their resume this season after beating Old School by ascore of 49 to 13. The Lightning began the game with 30 unanswered points and I was thinking the gamecould be mercy ruled by the half but Old School got on the board just before half. Problem is theLightning got the ball and scored on one play to make the half time score 36 to 7. Out of half Old Schoolput up another score but that ended up being the last score they'd get in. Lightning eventually got themercy rule win when they put up their 49th point. Lightning are firing on all cylinders right now and theyare the best squad in B league this season. They are playing lights out defense and their offense isunstoppable. They'll look to lock up a guaranteed playoff spot this Sunday against the Oilers. As for OldSchool they are looking for their first win when they go against Swat but I don't see them getting it. BY MICHAEL PARFITTCOLORADO FLAG FOOTBALL CORNERCOMPETITIVE DIVISIONWEEK 4 GAME 8KRYPTONITE 26 DENVER SHARKS 06Even with an unbeaten record, Kryptonite has shown vulnerability. They got the 26 to 6 win against theSharks but it probably shouldn't have been that close. The Sharks started the game with only six players buteventually had a few more guys show up. Kryptonite would eventually get the scoring going but it took justbefore half to get there. Kryptonite is not looking horrendous on offense, it's more they are narrowly missingon the opportunities they do have. They had a deep ball placed perfect for a walk in touchdown but couldnot connect with the WR. They'll need to get these chemistry issues ironed out soon because it won't flyagainst the tougher teams. They ended up scoring 20 points in the second half which helped give them the 2minute mercy rule win. Well I'm not going too far out on a limb by saying the Sharks will not make theplayoffs. This Sharks team is a little too unorganized and lack the flag knowledge to really make any noisethis season. They did score their first offensive touchdown of the season so they are making a little progress.Honestly, every player on this team could be picked up by other teams and do really good. BY MICHAEL PARFITTCOLORADO FLAG FOOTBALL CORNERCOMPETITIVE DIVISIONWEEK 4 GAME 9SUDDEN IMPACT 20 FOE 19In what could be argued for being the game of the week, Sudden Impact took FOE to the wire. FOE gotthe ball to start but was stopped on downs and Sudden Impact took advantage to go up 6 to 0. FOEwould go on to score 19 unanswered points and looked to be running away with the win. Sudden Impacthad other thoughts as they got in the end zone with 2:55 left in the game and only down by 6. All FOEhad to do was run the clock down as far as possible but Sudden Impact stepped up to stop FOE ondowns. FOE lined up for a punt but what's this, a bad snap gives Sudden Impact the ball at the ten. FOE'sdefense was holding strong and made it 4th down from the 3 yard line but Sudden Impact got it in theend zone to tie the game up. Sudden Impact would take the lead with an out route to pick up the extrapoint. FOE would only have ten seconds to make some magic happen but the deep ball wound up beingintercepted and Sudden Impact comes away with the 20 to 19 win to get their record to 2 and 2. SuddenImpact will take on Kryptonite and I wouldn't be shocked if they came away with a win.
