See “KeylessAccess Operation” later in thissection.If there is a decrease in the remotekey operating range:. Check the distance. The remotekey may be too far from thevehicle. Check the location. Othervehicles or objects may beblocking the signal. Check the remote key battery.See “Battery Replacement” laterin this section. If the remote key is still notworking correctly, see yourdealer or a qualified technicianfor service.The remote key functions may workup to 60 m (197 ft) away from thevehicle.Other conditions can affect theperformance of the remote key. SeeRemote Keyless Entry (RKE)System 0 9.9H : Press to lock both doors andthe fuel door. The turn signalindicators may flash and/or the hornmay sound on the second press toindicate locking. See “Remote Lock,Unlock, Start” under VehiclePersonalization 0 116.Pressing H may also arm thetheft-deterrent system. See VehicleAlarm System 0 26.See Folding Mirrors 0 30.I : Press to unlock the driver doorand the fuel door. Press again withinfive seconds to unlock both doors.When remotely unlocking thevehicle at night, the headlamps andtaillamps may come on for about30 seconds to light your approach tothe vehicle depending on thesettings. The vehicle can not bedriven during a remote start. Todrive the vehicle, press the brakepedal, then press ENGINE START/STOP, with the remote key in thevehicle.7 : Press and release to initiatevehicle locator. The exterior lampsflash and the horn chirps threetimes. Press 7 and hold forapproximately three seconds tosound the panic alarm. The hornsounds and the turn signal lampsflash for 30 seconds, or until 7 ispressed again or the vehicle isstarted.D : Press twice to release theKeyless Access Operationhatch/trunk. The vehicle must be inP (Park).This Keyless Access system allowsyou to unlock and unlatch the doorsand hatch/trunk without removingthe remote key from your pocket,purse, briefcase, etc. The remotekey must be within 1 m (3 ft) of thetrunk or door being opened.A touchpad is located on the doorhandle.E : Press twice to release thehood. The vehicle must be inP (Park).M : If equipped, press and releaseK, then immediately press and holdM continuously to open theconvertible top all the way. Thevehicle must be off to operate theconvertible top. Release the buttonto stop movement. This button willonly open the convertible top.If equipped, press and release Qthen immediately press and holdM to open the enginecompartment.Convertible Top.Do not try to start the vehiclewhile using the remote key toopen the convertible top.Release both the remote keybutton and ENGINE START/STOP and wait a few secondsbefore starting the vehiclenormally.The Keyless Access system can beprogrammed to unlock both doorson the first door handle touchpadpress from the driver door. KeylessAccess can also be turned Off. The turn signallamps will flash four times quickly toindicate access is disabled. Usingany exterior handle to unlock thedoors or open the hood or hatch/trunk will cause the turn signallamps to flash four times quickly,indicating access is disabled.If disabled, disarm the alarm systembefore starting the vehicle. DisablingKeyless Unlocking may also beconfigured under VehiclePersonalization.Enabling Keyless Unlocking:With the vehicle off, press and holdQ and K on the remote key at thesame time for approximatelythree seconds. The turn signallamps will flash twice quickly toindicate access is enabled. EnablingKeyless Unlocking may also beconfigured under VehiclePersonalization.Passive LockingKeyless Access will lock severalseconds after all doors are closed ifthe vehicle is off and at least oneremote key has been removed ornone remain in the vehicle.The fuel door will also lock.If other electronic devices interferewith the remote key signal, thevehicle may not detect the remotekey inside the vehicle. If passivelocking is enabled, the doors maylock with the remote key inside thevehicle. Do not leave the remotekey in an unattended vehicle.If the vehicle is locked with a remotekey inside the vehicle, that remotekey will be disabled for starting thevehicle and other keyless accessoperations. To re-enable that remotekey, press any button on thatremote key. The remote key willalso be re-enabled when the vehicle11is started with another knownremote key, or when the vehicle isunlocked.To customize whether the doorsautomatically lock when exiting thevehicle, see “Passive Door Lock”under Vehicle Personalization0 116.If equipped with remote foldingmirrors, passive locking may foldand unfold the mirrors. See FoldingMirrors 0 30.Temporary Disable of PassiveLockingTemporarily disable passive lockingby pressing and holding K on theinterior door switch with a door openfor at least four seconds, or untilthree chimes are heard. Passivelocking will then remain disableduntil the vehicle is turned on.Remote Left in Vehicle AlertWhen the vehicle is turned off and aremote key is left in the vehicle, thehorn will chirp three times after bothdoors are closed. If a remote key is notdetected, the Driver InformationCenter (DIC) will display NO KEYFOUND and the horn will chirp threetimes. This occurs only once eachtime the vehicle is driven. To turn onor off, see Vehicle Personalization0 116.remote keys will no longer workonce the new remote key isprogrammed.A new key can be programmed tothe vehicle when there are tworecognized keys.To program, the vehicle must be inrun and all remote keys, bothcurrently recognized and new, mustbe with you.Press the hatch/trunk releasetouchpad to open the trunk if theremote key is within 1 m (3 ft).Programming Remote Keys tothe VehicleOnly remote keys programmed tothis vehicle will work. If a remotekey is lost or stolen, a replacementcan be purchased and programmedthrough your dealer. When thereplacement remote key isprogrammed to this vehicle, allremaining remote keys must also bereprogrammed. Any lost or stolen1. Place the two recognizedremote keys on thepassenger seat.2. Scroll to the DIC menu to"Remote Key Learn" menu andselect.The DIC displays READY FORREMOTE #3, 4, 5, ETC.

Place the new remote key intothe backup pocket location.4. Press ENGINE START/STOP.When the remote key islearned, the DIC display willshow that it is ready to programthe next remote key.5. Remove the remote key fromthe backup location and pressK or Q on the remote key.To program additional remotekeys, repeat Steps 3–5.When all additional remotekeys are programmed, pressand hold ENGINE START/For improved vehicle security, theremote key is equipped with amotion sensor. When starting thevehicle, if the remote key has beenidle for a while, the DIC may displayKEY IN SLEEP MODE, MOVE KEY,THEN START. Move the remote keyslightly and try starting the vehicle.If the remote key battery is weak orif there is interference with thesignal, the DIC may display NOREMOTE DETECTED or NOREMOTE KEY WAS DETECTEDPLACE KEY IN KEY POCKET,THEN START YOUR VEHICLE.If this occurs, follow these steps:1. Place the remote key in thecupholder with the mechanicalkey end facing up.2. With the vehicle in P (Park) orN (Neutral), press the brakepedal and ENGINESTART/STOP.Replace the remote key batteryas soon as possible.
